How about the fighter from http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?p=900266#p900266? Arm it with pulse lasers

Fight 1 fighter vs 10 drones.
Missiles: A double salvo is 2 * 10 missiles:
2 * ( 10 - 6[def] ) = 8 missiles. Two single pulse lasers kill 2 * 2 = 4 missiles.
4 missiles hit doing 4 damage, killing the fighter twice over.
Laser:
2D +7[basic] +1[accurate] -2[target's basic defence] = 2D + 6 ⇒ AvD 2 * 96,9% * 4/10 * 55% ≈ 0,42 damage killing 42% of the enemy force.

Medium fighters cannot counter missile drones.

Edit: Capital damage and hull... Conclusion reversed.

TL 15, 110 kT, 36,7 kT Drop tank, Armour 15, 8066 Hull, GCr ~144.
J-4, M-9 (with drop tank)
125 Medium Meson Bay: Damage 125 * 100 / 10 = 1250
175 Quad Pulse Laser turrets: Damage 175 * 4 * 4 / 10 = 280
800 PD Batteries: Salvo Defence 800 * 12 + 175 * 5 = 10475
600 Meson Screens: Screen Defence 600 * 5 * 2 = 6000
150 Dampers: Screen Defence 150 * 5 * 2 = 1500

Fire at Long Range:
Meson Bay: 2D +7[basic] +1[accurate] -7[targets basic defence] -2[range] = 2D - 1 ⇒ AvD 38,2% * 1250 ≈ 477 damage - 1000 Screen Defence = 0 damage.

Conclusion: Meson bays are not very dangerous...

Meson Spinal 3DD: Damage 3 * 10000 / 10 = 3000
120 Quad Pulse Laser turrets: Damage 120 * 4 * 4 / 10 = 192
800 PD Batteries: Salvo Defence 800 * 12 + 120 * 5 = 10200
100 Meson Screens: Screen Defence 100 * 5 * 2 = 1000
100 Dampers: Screen Defence 100 * 5 * 2 = 1000

Fire at Long Range:
Meson Spinal: 2D +9[basic] -7[targets basic defence] -2[range] = 2D + 0 ⇒ Average Dam 49,6% * 3000 ≈ 1488 damage - 1000 Screen Defence = 488 damage, 6% of the enemy ship, not enough to give a DM -1 for radiation damage.

Conclusion: Meson screens are very effective against single attacks in Fleet Combat.
