As I left what is arguably the most important result off the first poll - the one where DBC eats his Stormtrooper Mug, I had no choice but to re-create it here. I fel like a total idiot.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Please only vote after having read enough of the book to form an honest opinion, and if you are willing to actually mete out punishment or duly reward.

DBC will pe punished or rewarded based on how the book scores as per the table below:

Code:
Sucks Really Bad Slow Death by Torture

Just Sucks Relatively Quick Lynching

Kinda Sucks DBC Eats His Stormtrooper Mug

Just OK Tell Him "Nice Job" And Then Give Him Cold
Shoulder. Wait For Uz and Judge Again.

Good Tea and Fruitcake

Rocks Beer. Everyone Buys Him A Pint.

Best Book Ever Form Cult of Dead Blue Clown and All Join.
Worship Him and Do His Bidding. Make Sacrifices.

How about a Poll on your poll making abilities?

Sucks Really Bad: Slow Death by Troll Mosh Pit

Just Sucks: Relatively Quick Devouring by Mistress Race Troll

Kinda Sucks: Rurik Eats A Trollkin

Just OK: Tell Him "Nice Job" And Then Give Him Silly Nickname like "Trolkin Powned."

Good: We refrain from commenting on how he got killed by a trollkin

Rocks: Elmal disbanded.

Best Book Ever: Rurik gets his own hero subcult of Yelmalio which involves hot Earth Cult chicks and raging bonfires.

Hmm.

I would say it is a good thing I like Mosh Pits.

Pretty cool, good work dude... Haven't gone in to detail yet but the book oozes Gloranthan Goodness.
The artwork rocks... the Zistorites are particularly cool (can't wait for the Clanking City).
One niggle... the pic of the Inhuman King (it is well drawn)... he doesn't looks so much old but long-dead... his wings are missing as well... (still only a small point)

Well, I looked at it, read the passages that mattered, and decided a few things:

1. This is for NPC's.
2. If players are allowed, you play favoratism, especially if another person likes dragons and the other the godlearner magic.
3. Godlearners can cast all magic. Why have runes? I can learn a Sorcery Spell, loose NO power for Integrating a Rune, and dont have to also then look for someone that can teach it to me. Sorry, we role-play. Why should Death Cultist show you how to cast a Death Spell from a Death Rune? Hell with that. Collect all 9 and become a Vampire...right. Thats what I'd do if I was a death cultist. Hang up a sign "Tach Death Rune Spells for 50SP...today only."
4. Since I can learn all spells, and cast multiple spells, now I'll learn Firebolt, Lightning, and Disruption, and cast ALL 3 at once.!!!! Woot. At Magnitude 5, when I'm a beginning character. OK. SOrry, a Wizard can only start off with 2 spells, and ohh...RUNESPELLS at that.
5. No mentioning about what and how players learn magic.
6. More pages of awefull Heroic Abilities that no-one will ever get. If you ever played Warhammer Roleplaying, they stole the concept of Fate Points (Hero Points) from that system. Warhammer been around for many more years than this edition of Runequest. TO BECOME A HERO, YOU MUST DO HEROIC THINGS. We'll, thats the problem. You DIE doing heroic things. They are heroic because you achieved what cannot be done. Which means using Hero Points...
7. D&D made this world once where you could play a Dragon. Bronze, Black, Copper etc. Why dont people who wana play lizards go play that game. Give this "I wana be like a dragon" thing a rest. On a philosophical side, sure, why not. But mutations?
8. Robots in a fantasy setting...cool. Not. NEED OIL...fast. I'm rusting.
9. it's catered to little kiddies that wana run power games. NOT what Avalon Hill had in mind when they at least made Runequest into a game that College age people wanted to play...
10. I may as well play 3rd ed D&D...yuk/spit/caugh. Another great system ruined, absolutely and for all eternity, by these coorporations that produce trash to make money - making good games is of no importance anymore at all to them.

Thats my opinion of the Glorantha system overall...is should have been left alone. It was fine. Make a new age. Not go back to an old one, and say "Your all doomed". Why bother? I see the whole Age Thing as a remix of a great tune...and we all know why we hate re-mixes. They just arnt the real thing...

If you wish to get into Gloranthan detail, the Mostali, Caladra/Aurelian cult and the Elves know of oil, which is called Earth Blood if my memory serves correctly. They also know of Firebone, or coal. Both of these commidities are encountered in the region of Maniria where the cult of Zistor is established at this time. Firebone and Earthblood are both derived from primeval forests destroyed during the Great Darkness. Also the Zistorites are not just about robotics, it is about purifying and mechanising the worship of the Invisible God. I have not yet read the stuff, but would site the Mechanists and Hammerers from Thief:The Dark Project and Metal Golems and the War-forged as all being good examples of fantasy mechanised creatures/cultures. Even Tolkien used industrialisation of the Shire under Saruman and the image of the flame spouting living machine is a staple of Middle-eastern and ancient greek story telling, although living statues were a more apt term.

Dude, I understand and sympathise with some of your earlier posts, and responded reasonably, but now you are just ranting and raving. There is nothing in the above rant that makes any sense. MoG is about Godlearners and The Empire of Wyrms Friends, these have both been written about extensively prior to the release of MRQ, Draconic Mysticism, Zistorite 'Robots' and all. If you don't like it, fine, don't play Second Age, but none of these are Mongoose Creations.

Gloranthan Character Creation rules are in the upcoming Players Guide to Glorantha, so they havn't been released yet. I'm witholding judgement till then.

And for the record Hero Points have been around since long before WFRP.

MRQ is far from perfect, but your rants are going from impassioned but reasonably put forth criticisms to barely intelligible raving.

I don't even need to answer this. It does its own work.

I'm short of time at the moment, so I'm still on the EWF, but I think it's a good sign (at least for EBC's mug) that my biggest gripe so far is that the various Dragonspeaker Cults couldn't have been better laid out - one cult to a page. I'm also not wild about the symbols being used as watermarks as they are difficult to make out (and what I can make out looks pretty crude at that scale...)

I did flick forward to see the silly picture of the Inhuman King. - My theory is that it is not him at all, but Wosisface Left Eye in his Dragonspeaker regalia....

And since the God Learners have just plundered the Caladra/Aurelion myths, they will have access to both Earthblood and Firebone.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were researching how to make some new Earthblood and Firebone out of those pesky elves and their forests.

And since the God Learners have just plundered the Caladra/Aurelion myths, they will have access to both Earthblood and Firebone.
Not sure if plundered is the right word for what the God Learners have done with Caladra and Aurelion.

Well, they plundered the myths of Caladra, Aurelion and Lodril as well as several of the other Earth/Sky deities, then used them to build up a nice shiny new set of myths. But, they had to have used the old myths as the basis of the new cult.

They certainly didn't invent any new volcano gods, just a few new relationships between them.

I had a thought about Earthblood and Firebone. Perhaps the Godlearners are using the life-properties of Earthblood to act as new blood for Zistor. After all, he has veins and arteries full of Earthblood. I'm not sure how Firebone fits in - it's used as fuel to raise steam, so you have Earth (Firebone) becoming Fire, turning Water into Air (Steam), so 4 of the 5 elements are working in harmony. Very alchemical.

Yes, just trying to imply it wasn't the usual God Learner Hatchet Job, the 'twin' Godleaners who intitiated the process were more careful/respectful than their piers. The cult actually hung together rather than unravelling in an unsightly mess like the goddess switch.

Did the same thing, got the same reaction, read the write up and went, aha! Trust me, Dude, there is an explanation and it's a good one at that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this book rocks, although there are still layout & editorial issues, on the whole, that sides getting better and DBC has done a great job (god I hate sounding that postive, about anything!). Of course we're all waiting to see what happens in Uz before we start work on the DBC cult premises!

Quintus, me old mucker, if you hate MRQ and all things related as much as you seem to, whatcha doin' here? I very much doubt you'll get what you are looking for. You seem to be of the opinion that MRQ and G2A are a complete crock and I've got no issue with that. It's free cosmos (or at least relatively low rent) and you've a right to your opinion, but it seems to me you don't have any intention of supporting the game so why waste time spouting bile on the boards? There are plenty of products and re-releases of games I don't like, but I wouldn't waste my time involving myself if I don't think there is something redeemable in the system.
