Final purchase.

Stonehorse

Mongoose
As I get a nice bonus at work this month and Mongoose are ceasing to make ACTA ships I'm thinking of buying 2 Shadow box sets.

Would this be a bit over kill, or would it give me just the right number of options for large games?

6 Shadow Ships
16 Shadow Scouts
16 Shadow Fighters (Which I would mount 3 to a base so in effect I'd have 32)

Thanks in advance.

Assembling 16 Scouts.. man.. that's scary.

Oh yes...hope you have A HELL LOT OF PATIENCE....he he

two of them was enough for me.... the first try to assemble an scout ends with an lightspeed flight into the roomcorner.

and i have A LOT of patience with such difficult things... 8)

Got to agree, utter bastards to put together. Ended up filing off the positional bumps and drilling through the bodies and drilling into the spines to use wire to hold it all together. Got a pin vice carpet burn in the centre of my palm after doing six.

With six battle crabs, you're light on fighters if you want them to all be ancients, one would have to be a young'n.

From what I've gathered so far, you would never field that lot in a game of CTA. Depends if you want to use them with other rules like GOBS or Sky Full Of Ships.

If he puts them three to a base, he'll only be down four fighters, and he can use proxies/buy more for that. ^_^

That's sounds quite good.

Personnaly I got one old and one new box so it's 7 shadow ships, 14 scout and 14 flights.
This works fine, unless you need fighters.

If you double, as you said, your fighters bases I see no problem in campaign for you.

Maybe one thing, the young/old and scout/stalker should have something "external" like an "amovible" base or something like that to "mark" them.
This allow you to convert a stalker in scout and vice versa if needed.
