Fighters?

Have a look in the S&P article - there are a few 3d renders.

Yes, fading suns features fighters, but it's not normally as 'dogfighty' as babylon 5. There are definitely carriers in all of the fleets, though, and I think some fighters and torpedo bombers are included in all the fleet boxes described so far.

And by carrier, that means literally 'a Carrier' - unlike B5, where everything with a designation of 'Heavy Cruiser' or above packs a fighter wing (Primus, G'Quan, Omega, etc, etc) you need to bring an Avenger/Poseidon-style dedicated carrier with a flight deck and naff all armament.

On the plus side, this means that people who do bring fighters are likely to have an easier time of it, as there won't be walls of cheap defensive fighters to fend off.

Of course, a lot of ships are supposed to come with a shedload of gatling lasers for murdering boarding parties and cutting grapnel lines - I imagine they can probably make a nice mess of anything coming to close quarters (hence the torpedo bombers)

The fighter rules are almost identical to those in B5, so there is still dogfighting. Carrier operations have expanded a bit though.

I'm considering substituting some BSG models, so whichever fleet focuses most heavily on those might fit.

Fluff wise from Fading Suns / Noble Armada (non CTA 3 version) a fighter heavy fleet is a "barbarian" people called the Kurgan. Fighters are one of their main weapons.

If you're looking for a counts-as fleet, then House Hawkwind and House Hazat have the biggest carriers available.

I might go with one as the colonial fleet and the other as cylons then.

Studio Bergstrom, here I come!

The digital models in S&P suggest not; that you have 'a fighter' rather than 'a fighter wing', but as long as they move and fight as one entity (as flights did in 2e) then that's a fairly academic distinction - you're not using the Noble Armada models, after all.
