Fighters, planets and questions.

I posted this in the rulesmasters but had no response, maybe you guys can answer these.

Had my first game of 2e earlier in the month, lots of great improvements to the game. I did a search and couldn't find answers to a few questions that came up during the game.

1: Can fighters on a planet be targeted by Anti-Fighter?
2: Can fighters on a planet be hit by an emine, or a ship explosion?
3: Can fighters use a planet to slingshot?
4: Can ships target fighters on a planet normally, only in low orbit, or not at all?

Thanks in advance!

1: is that ship anti-fighter or ground defence?

2: Emine, and ship explosion is a negative page 40 rule book "Attacking Emplacements"

3: I think I remember reading that fighters are considered as "ships" in many situations, and I can´t find "fighters can´t slingshot" in the rulebook...
It just says every ship can slingshot (adrift etc. a different case).

Not certain, AFB, but I'd think that fighters (and atmospheric capable ships on the planet marker) attacking planetary targets could only be attacked by ships in low orbit (inc. AF) or on the ground. Fighters not assigned to ground attack (or supporting ground attackers as above) would just be treated as if in open space.

@Lt.Derina: I wasn't aware there was a ground defense anti-fighter, could you point me towards a page number? And thank you for the page 40 reference, I missed that section since there were no emplacements.

@Omnipotent: My thoughts also, thanks for the reinforcement.

@Iain McGhee: I think that's how I'll treat them. Any fighters in a dogfight on the planet couldn't be shot at anyway, fighters attacking ground targets can only be fired on by ships in low orbit, fighters doing neither are just flying near the planet and are open targets. This clears things up nicely since fighters choose what they are going to do on the planet in the movement phase, and in order to be in range of Anti-Fighter a ship would also be in low orbit.

Remember that when you use AF, you not shooting at the fighter. Also, I'm not finding any reference to atmospheric craft being planetary targets. Without that, the whole "Attacking Emplacements" section has no effect on attacking atmospheric craft.

I hadn't quite realized that, thank you.

Excellent point. Counter intuitive for me, but you are correct. I can find nothing that says ships and fighters on the planet are targeted differently than normal. Sorted.
