indeed, System does not imply ALL of the pulse cannons (is that what it has) but rather one pulse cannon from one arc.
you would think logically that they were all somehow tied in, but they aint :-(

Omega all the way - ugly functionality over aesthetics. Playability could use some Armageddon-type tweaks.

Hyperion? Eh, the rear exposed support beams make it look like it's not completely constructed.

I actually don't care for the hyperion at all. The thing I do like about it, however, is it really has the look of a submarine in space.

The Omega and Nova are both very signature "Earth" Straight forward and to the point.

I just REALLY like the look of the next generation of Earth ships, still crossing my fingers for a advanced EA fleet

Warlock for me - although there is one name for a ship of this class in Visions of Peace I wish had been reconsidered...

Omega followed closely by Nova.

They both look great in a subtle as a brick way.

Omega shades it over Nova just because of more screen time.

Hyperion just does n't have the same presence- it's pretty in a "girly" way but does n't ooze testosterone in the same way as Omega/Nova.

Cheers

Artemis Heavy Frigate.
The fluff is obviously biased so I ignore it, it's a solid ship with heavy flexible firepower for it's PL, it's fast and manoeuvrable- and besides, my overall record playing EA is very spotty. I've had Hyperions vapourised in one go, Novas that couldn't hit a barn from the inside, and I acquired a deep loathing of the Omega for it's pathetic secondary weapons, highly limited fire arcs and, at it's level, fragility. The Artemis almost always carries it's share of the battle and more for me, and I think they should never have been withdrawn from service.
The Olympus would be in second place, as it's another ship that's alweays served me well. Unless we're allowing variants, in which case it would be the Rail Prototype Hyperion.

Olympus all the way.
What other EA ship would face lots of sharlins with supporting flight of starfuries.
Take Multi Warhead missles and give that upstart of Chronos a big hurry up, replace me you don't even have missles.
Would even be better if if the mini was to scale

Ill take a Chronos against 2 Olympus any day, even WITH multi warhead missiles ;)

EDIT: tried testing this out actually and in THEORY the Chronos is better, but my dice seem to disagree....

First salvo of the game, 2 multiwarhead missiles, BOTH hit despite needing 5s, 1 scores a crit, the other a standard hit, rolls on crit table: 6 followed by 6. Chronos explodes.....

rewind.....

Lets try that again....

First salvo of the game, 2 mulit warhead missiles, 1 hits causing a standard hit. Then the pulse cannons fire. Scoring 3 hits. Interceptors fire up... first roll 3 dice needing 2s: 1,5,1!!!!! second roll, 2... (I need to remember to NEVER EVER use these dice for my Chronos again :P). Ok thats not too bad still only 3 points of damage (though that is all my intercepors used up on 3 medium pulse cannon shots.... of whihc only 1 was intercepted (needless to say I did NOT roll a six on the 3rd hit :P)

Then the Olympus fires its railguns, needing 5s. ALL FOUR HIT!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! Why cant I roll like this when Im playing properly?!?! (incidentally those 4 hits scored 2 standard hits and 2 crits.

Now despite my love of the Chronos I DO like the Olympus too. But this must be the single most elite gunnery crew in Earthforce, this one little ship dished out about 35 damage on its own against a hull 6 target with 3 interceptors in one turn of firing (thats going on my original missile shotsby the way). Madness. Total and complete madness! This never would have happened if the earthers hadnt started fighting one another.... ;)

Hyperion, without a doubt. Not necessarily the best functioning ship by any means but it is a thing of beauty.

I went with the Chronos, but it was a hard choice. The Warlock and Olympus are very close to my heart here. But I began to think about them as whether or not they were ultimately cool as compared within their PL.

The Warlock is awesome, but it is War Level and should be frightening.

The Olympus rocks as a Skirmish level choice, but the Hull 6 of the Chronos made me go with it. That and it looks really cool.

The Omega's almost in the category of "So Ugly it's Cute" or at least cool. It looks like a military vessel.

I also really like the simplicity of the EA Hermes. It's a tiny vessel, and an old one by the in-service date, but should look fine with the more modern craft. In fact, if there isn't one in Armageddon I may have to try and submit a S&P article detailing a revised version for the more modern eras.

well, I have to say Chronos, its like the ardvark, kinda cute in a very hard shelled way. The Warlock and Apollo equal seconds, although head on Head the Sag is slightly better than an Apollo.

Olympus & Artemis are 2 of my staples, gotta love the little bricks, hmmmm thats pretty much all EA ships.

If only the Olympus could fire its missiles every round that would be nice but my Olympuses are usually priority targets due to their high kill ratio against the Centauri :D

Posseidon! I'd never play it(even if they make fighters good again, two Avengers would still be better) but it's a sexy ship that if well painted would make a beautiful centerpiece to one's fleet.

"Olympus all the way baby"

10 of them at 5 points raid all with Heay missiles = pain a plenty even agsinst white stars (Gencon UK 05) a bit on the cheesey side but its a tourney :D

Whiles I've certainly had a lot of luck with both the Olympus and the Chronos as my default Skirmish and Raid ships respectively, the EA ship that's done the best for me has always been the Omega.

Sure, I'd prefer more damage points (only 40?!) but with Hull 6 and 3 Interceptors standard, 30" of reach out and touch someone Heavy Lasers, 10AD twin-linked Pulse Cannons, AND four flights of Starfuries which don't count against you for Victory Points when they die?

I'll take three. :D
