fastest ship?

I used to like the dilgar dartfighters in 1e. 16 inch move and an afterburner. 32 inches was pretty good for getting were you wanted to be. Of the top of my head, I think it was the fastest acta vessel ever. In both editions. (even if it was just for one turn)

Blue Star with Advanced Gravitic Drive refit applied 16 times, on APTE with a gas giant = 54" ;)
Would make a Blockade Run quite easy.

Base speed: Dilgar Thorun Dartfighter wins, speed 17. Fighters are ships too remember...

And how many campaign turns will take to get 16 times?

That's like the safari jeep that gets stuck in the African wilderness, ten miles from the nearest village. The two men see a lion start ambling towards them. One of the men takes off his hiking boots and starts putting on his running shoes. The other man says, "why are you bothering? We'll never outrun those lions."

The other man replies, "I don't need to outrun the lion, I just need to outrun you!"

Halfling/Dragon :)

only 24" of move, afterburners gave fighters a 1 off 50% move increase. only the vic gets double move due to being able to get the 50% from APTE anyway.

they get overall faster for an entire game now though. and you dont have to remember which ones have used it and which havent.

I never understood the concept of an afterburner in a fighter than used a fusion powerplant... there isn't anything to afterburn...

I think it's somewhere in between pushing the reactor to about 100% output for a limited period of time and expending more reaction mass...

You know, that never occured to me at the time. The odd thing is I'd considered something similar when I was considering getting gaim. To show when they went into guided missile mode. Just didn't like the idea of buying (let alone painting and basing) all those flights.

Maybe they actually have a seperate afterburner jet system to provide a little extra kick when needed?

Unlikely but it's an option.
