Farscape

Wouldn't they do what?

They can't stop releasing Farscape books, they never did in the first place.

As for starting doing it, given how poorly the d20 one sold I doubt they'd think there's enough interest to justify the licence fees.

Considered the series has stopped, the licence shouldn't be too expensive (that is less than Star Wars and Star Trek).

D20 isn't a good system IMO and as AEG is an US company, they lack the Aussie's humour. Mongoose has a lot of other systems to offer however and they have the experience needed to deal with this and why not compete with say Star Wars saga.

I believe Traveller is far too generic nowadays and I don't know what we will get with Blue Planet.

I also sense a flavor of disappointment in your comment. Is it because babylon 5 has come to an end?

Bump!

Previous post exchange aside, I still wish Mongoose developpe a Farscape game. The AEG version was already great but Mongoose can do it better...
and longer.

Mongoose owns the rights to Blue Planet?
I never played, but I thumbed through it at the local game store. It looked cool but I was hesitant to commit to a new system from a company that might go out of business.
If Mongoose has the rights, it might be smarter to release it as a Traveller supplement than a complete stand alone game.

RedBricks had the rights for Blue Planet (and Earthdawn) but they made an agreement with Mongoose as a publisher/distributor through Flaming Cobra.

Sounds like it will be published as a stand alone game. I'll keep my eyes open for it in the Flaming Cobra section of the Mongoose website. Thanks for the info.

Let's just be clear about the Farscape rpg for a moment. It wasn't Farscape that was the problem. AEG should have had enough confidence in their L5R system over the D20 system. They tried to capitalize on the D20 craze and jumped on the D20 Bandwagon and it was a wash. Also they were only allowed to make the core book and nothing else. So the book was DOA when it finally managed to come out after the delay of a year and a half. So Farscape had the short end of the stick from the get go. Now farscape would do well with mongoose because of the support they throw behind their lines of product. :D

And who knows. If a new Farscape RPG has success, may be it can stir enought the movie production to do another batch of episodes.

There is really nothing stopping anyone from just running a Farscape Game with the Core Traveller Rules (I've done it on more then a few Demo's). Everything is pretty straight forward really. Don't even need to do anything special for the most part.

Still, I think it's a rich setting, that could offer some potential.
