Erm... WHAT?!

The rulebook quite clearly states 'SM ships that are crippled are reduced to 2/45 turns....

Im sorry but if the rulebook rule is meant to apply only to shadows then it shouldnt be under the general movement rules! And in any case, no matter how you read it, by that frankly quite clear paragraph in the rulebook the FAQ statement is flat wrong!
 
You are absolutely right - call this a brain fade on my part in not understanding the question put to me by one of the playtesters. The FAQ will be adjusted appropriately tomorrow.

Not only Vree players - also Shadows and Dark Knife players who get a little too close to a Traveller ;)

Great news that it will be corrected, though.
 
Basically as I understand it the question the Vree players want answered is:

Does the SM ships when crippled thing count for Vree as theyre not ACTUALLY SM but 'move as SM ships when they move under half speed'.

Personally I would say its pretty obvious that if theyre cripled and move under half speed then they would move 'as a crippled SM ship' (ie 2/45) but there was some debate about this :P

for the Vree SM, when crippled, do they loose SM completely, like a trait, or are the reduced to the "crippled for of SM", ie, 2 turns at 45? if its a trait, do you roll to see if you loose it?
 
Unless you've got a huge amount of the improved thrusters/+2 speed refits - it doesn't matter. None of the Vree ships have enough room to use the two turns if under the 1/2 speed at crippled 1/2 speed.

Beg to differ: The Xaar has speed 12. 1/2 = 6, 1/2 again = 3. move 2", turn, move 1", turn again, so next turn, can move in a different direction.

but, it can still be an issue on many others using the refits mentioned.

The Xaar does't have the agile so it must move 2" before turning again. So like everyone else said it doesnt matter until you get some speed upgrades. The special rules for the Vree state their ships are so agile that they can move with SM under half speed, but none of their ships actually have the agile trait so for all normal movements they must abide by the normal movement rules.
 
Strange no if crippled they have no more SM and the Agile is also no question for Vree ships so they are now again flying practise targets first hit Crippled second hit gone.
