Mongoose
We used to play ACTA a lot...I mean a LOT (2 or 3 times a week). And put up a lot of Battle Reports on the site (well maybe 6 or 7). We even ran a short lived campaign (we only reported a few turns on the website but it lasted quite a few battles ( www.actagamer.com )

We (firstly Reaverman, Burger and I then later meeting up with Tank et al) found the forums and started asking questions, meeting friendly people and taking part in tournaments...(I reckon we're currently the only ACTA players to have played in tournaments in different countries! Well only UK mainland, NI, and Republic of Ireland but still well worth it if only to meet such awesome dudes as Tenacious_B, The_Pirv and Black Omega ;) I still mean to have that cross-atlantic tourney one-day! )

Somewhere along the road we mostly lost what we loved about the game, i.e. playing it and meeting new friends. We got absorbed in some silly debates on these forums, entered tournaments where we played people that...well without going into details, people who just rubbed us up the wrong way. We also got frustrated with inconsistent rulings, ships that came that simply looked obviously over powered (new Trolligan anyone) or broken lists at tourneys (10 Saggs FTW!)...we ended up spending so much time arguing about small things that we stopped playing the game and the rules lawyering wasn't fun at all so we just stopped everything.

A short while ago though Burger and I (as well as Tank, TGT, Adam, Jim et al) started playing again at our local games shop and I remember what I loved about the game...the playing and the meeting new friends and catching up with old hands.

What was different? Well - I just stopped letting stupid things bother me. It made sense....

1. There are rules and stats that make no sense to me and the vast majority of people I play with, if MGP want to keep 'em fine...I'm free to ignore 'em ;)
2. There are people who I won't agree with (or even like) in this world and the feeling is probably mutual. Life's to short to try to find an approach that works with everyone - I'm just going to avoid the muppets and just play games with people that I get on with using rules that make sense to me and that I enjoy.
3. Plus I much prefer writing battle reports and helping run tourneys than arguing about rules etc ;)

Hopefully we (the Sentient Rabbits crew) will be having quite a few battles in the future and will be posting pics and reports up on the forums :)

Thats when it all started to go downhill ;)

Oh and when maths was invented, too. This game was so much more fun before then.

gosh hash, you made me go all teary eyed... and you know, I have never played you. I've lost to Reaverman 3 times, Burger once, TGT once, beat Tank (but then who doesn't) I "think" I beat Adam too, I recall spanking some vorchans about (1st ed ones) but somehow have contrived to never play you.

Very well said, and my sentiments exactly. It is a game and games should be enjoyed. If not then something is wrong. I have to try and remember this. Thanks for the reminder.

Then I owe you a match! Interestingly I've never actually played TGT either!

The Aldershot tourney was a great event - most enjoyable :)

great games and fun people :) it was even nice to be beaten by General Hash and his Shadow minions!

Mnay enjoyable games against Tank in the past (although I usually loose now, after he and Triggy let me win when I fist played them  also as the Maximus is no longer a attack ship :( )

Majority of people I have played / play with are great fun :D

I have too, likewise Leonpaul. If Drala Fi is still on here he may be one of the few trans-atlantic players?

Cool quote in your sig btw
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum. "
That's such a great movie. The South Park homage to the fight scene is hilarious too

I hate Mongoose being based in England. You guys need to move to the North East United States so I can play you...

well said Hash it makes 2nd sundays a joy !
we worship at the temple o-acta
good mates, good games, amen brother!

Nah you need to move mongoose to Oz for a month, so I can get some games in against the staff... And then when they need too they can just click thier heels 3 times and go back to England...
