so then. a long long time ago, at a desk not to far away, I read that Mongoose were releasing the Drakh.
I thought about it, and my Narn having been battered a bit with a recent rules change, I took the plunge and pre ordered them. They weren't due for a few months, but I had some spare cash....
so release time comes... and no fleet arrived. My LGS had a fleet box built, painted, and on display, so I mailed Mongoose. Matt in fact, and he said he would get right on it. Sure enough I got a mail from the dispatch bloke, stating that the only motherships they had were a bit Naff (paraphrasing) so was I ok to wait and he would dispatch the rest of the fleet.
And so it arrived, not a fleet box, but a collection of Boxes and Blisters which i Gleefully built. I was short some fins for a few heavy raiders and mailed alex.. In the post he said (again paraphrasing) and 2 days later, my fins arrived. On top of this, the dispatcher had stuck in some scouts to apologise on the mothership issue, quite nice of him.
and so my fleet was built and had it's first battle, a desperate struggle against the Abbai. I lost, but the abbai only had half a bimith left...
not to be perturbed, I signed up for a participation event at ID gaming, the Drakh invasion... I then broke my Ankle, so one of the players picked my fleet up and took it in for others to use. The Drakh won, whoo! and my fleet with some painting done by wing commander returned.
Still no sign of a mothership at this point, seems their were casting problems. but the fleet got a few more run outs, loosing to Burgers Drazi, reavermans Shadows, and A chaps Vorlons in a whitewash tourney. Although with another 4 turns that damned vorlon would have been dead!!.
anyhow, I decided to shelve the lfeet while I built my Brakiri and then EA (crusade) up. it kind of got mushed into a box, and battered about, but still got the odd play. The mothership still wasn't happening, bad problems. I had a few dates tossed my way by i think it was a chap called Chris, but they came and went. somewhat angry, i did have some great rants on the board, leading to a slapped wrist and a day long ban!
Still no motherships in sight, then came news, the mould had gone kablooie completely, and a new design was underway... then we had some new ship releases for other fleets, cue some more rants on my part, and indeed a few otheers, we had a "wheres Hiffs mothership" signature thing going on and everything. Coming soon, mongoose said.
Still new models came out, armageddon had been released (with it's own ill fated models!) and then ,a CGI of a new Drakh carrier. ooh things were moving... and then I got a wireframe image off Matt (I may have pestered him at this time!) it looked better than the old one!....
and then in the post, it came, A mothership. alas it was the old one!!! how? I ranted again, (I like ranting!!) Matt responded, dispatch mistake. I said I would return it and he said no, keep it (who knows, it may become a collectors item!) and so we went on until we saw a built, painted new mothership... that was too heavey! so it went back for hollowing.. for a while...
then came the announcement of the EA/Drakh day, I signed up and Matt said mo-ship would be ready before it.. I decided to play Drakh!!... then a couple of weeks later, I got a bit worried and mailed Matt, and LO! the model was on his desk for dispatch, I gave him my address and did a little jig!.
so Imagine my dissapointment when I came home from work yesterday, to have missed delivery, was mildly surprised as a ship box will just fit through my letterbox..... so another day's wait, then today, I popped to the postoffice to collect a model... and I got this...
so I was a rad surprised.. it was also heavy, although i put that down to me being knackered after hauling my 19 stone fat ass through 30 lengths of the swimming pool!
I got it home, the cat didn't care :-( and opened it... ooh, foam..
and then these came out...
now then, Either A Matt has been very generous, or B has made a terrible mistake! I'm not sure. i spoke to him on e-mail just yesterday and he made no mention of this evil black ops fleet.... so only time will tell... more pics when I build the ship, after all, this saga needs finishing.
