Earth: 2089 ...third gulf war?

In the Earth:2089 book it mentions that the US enters a third Gulf War, but the timeframe of that happening is in 2003 or so (don't specifically recall, don't have book in front of me).

Now the first one was...Desert storm...in the 90's...or are they referring to that as the second one?

Please elaborate where this third war came from or is that a typo?

The first could refer to the Iran Iraq war.

or

It could be an editing slip with the Six Hour War being the third.

Technically, the Iran/Iraq war was the first. . .

As Matthew says, the "first Gulf War" (at least from the perspective of 2089) is the Iran-Iraq war, the "second Gulf War" was the 1991 campaign, the third the 2003 conflict (which, for reference, began a couple of weeks after I submitted the Earth 2089 draft though it was pretty much inevitable by that point).
