Early EA Bonehead manouver

Seriously. How many folks saying this needs to go away does it take to make it go away? This seems to be the clearest playtesting result yet from the collective community. Let's now see what The 5 and Matt do for a second iteration.

Mmm good point, accepted. Although it seems to be against the intention of standard jump engines, that they are not very precise.

Still, other points hold.

I think, with jump engines, its easy to target where you want to open your jump point. Its ensuring that the exit side is where you want it to be that is the hard part.

Just because it hasn't been said yet doesn't mean it wont be removed. Considering the general outcry about this, it seems to me that it will be gone. More than likely (and what would make sense) is all the play test discussion is reviewed and changes are released together, not specific ones at a time.

I agree with some of the frustrations above, but I imagine Matt is pretty busy and unable to respond to us as fast as we'd like him to. Perhaps we should call for a Friday Feature or something, where we can get regular updates, and then we can prepare our responses to him, knowing that what he has looked at, will get a response and comment at a set time, hopefully weekly but maybe bi-weekly if weekly proves impossible for him to do.

I see the Bonehead maneuver, being like Lyta Alexander. Lyta was modified by the Vorlons. Lets say they came up with a rule called "Modified by the Vorlons" which gave an Admiral a high Psi rating, P15 for example. Sure, someone was modified by the Vorlons, but that doesn't mean it is something you can do on a regular basis. Often times games like this are a victim to that kind of thinking. Just because something was possible, one time, does not mean it should be a common occurrence on the battlefield.

This game needs balance, not gimmicks.

Matt doesn't really have time to read through all the threads. But we playtesters do, and we've been passing on the salient points to him.

Could Matt make some kind of Weekly Update based on what ya'll give him?

Transparency is key with these kinds of things, and the more we know what he is thinking, the more we can tailor our efforts towards what he specifically is asking for, week by week.

I have worked with Chris Taylor and Vivendi Games for many years helping to balance traits in his various MMO series and knowing where the efforts will do the most good has helped to maximize our efforts.

These Discussions have been great, but it'd be good to have a more readily available understanding of their relevance and impact on the actual rules.
