EA Era fleet boxes

Black Omega

Mongoose
I see that the EA early era fleet box is up on the website for order. It contains the following ships:-

8 Flights of Starfuries
2 Nova Dreadnoughts
2 Orestes System Monitors
3 Sagittarius Cruisers
1 Hyperion Heavy Cruiser
1 Artemis Heavy Frigate
2 Tethys Cutters
1 Oracle Scout

My question is directed at anyone who works for Mongoose (so LBH that doesn't mean you smartarse! 8) ).
Can you tell me what will be the expected composition of the other era boxsets for the EA when they come out in the near future? I'm interested in purchasing more EA ships but want to know whats going to be in the middle era boxset, to complement the original fleet box i already have, before i commit to buying more minis.

um, dude, thay have been listed already somewhere. have a mooch. And thats a bit harsh on LBH, after all, he is like Matts pet Parrott.....

Ahh cheers dudes i had a look at the EA minis page on the main ACTA website but missed that they posted the upcoming minis box compositions at the bottom of the page <slaps forehead> :)

Just for discuession

3rd age: 4 furies
3 tbolts
1 warlock
2 omega
3 hyperion
2 olympus
2 hermes
1 avenger

Crusade

4 furies
4 tbolts
3 apollo
2 chronos
1 delphi
1 marathon
2 nemesis

What I find strange is the lack of novas in the 3rd age list, and how top heavy the crusade box is.

Novas are a stable of any EA list that can take them- decent hull, decent firepower, 4 furies for a raid. Great beat stick that can double as an initative sink... which is great in a bore heavy list. When you factor in the fighters, about the same fire power as a hyperion frontally... and the nova has the lovely broadsides...

The Crusade box is somewhat strange as well; with the boresight dependency of the crusade's big ships; initiative sinks are important; unfortunitely you only have partol and raid choices. Realistically every EA player should have more hermes then they can shake a stick at from the earlier fleets; but at least 4 chronos should find their way into every crusade EA fleet.

The two nemisis are a bit surprising... exactly how many 3-4 point armageddon level games are most people going to play?!?

Personally, if I am fielding the big hitters, the first I buy will be the warlock. Its doubtful I'd ever field a second... concentrating more on the excellent raid and battle selections (Marathon, Apollo, chronos, delphi). If the Warlock or Nemesis were war, I'd think on it; but I suspect 4 marathons or apollo (or heck omegas) could trash a single nemesis or warlock.

I would have prefered to drop a nemesis, add a marathon, drop an apollo and add two more chronos.

Don't get me wrong; I'll probably end up picking up the crusade box set; I need 8 more fighters anyways, and I figure I can always sell an apollo and a nemesis...

Id prefer the second Nemesis to be dropped for another Marathon personally.

(well for that matter Id see the the first one dropped for a Warlock too....)

As for Artemis, nope dont have any. Will probably have to get some though... Chronos cant do EVERYTRHING. Close to but not quite ;)

Hey, that was a little harsh, all I'd have done is the same thing everyone else did, show you that the info was on the website.

I've been around these forums for a long time, I amass all sorts of Mongoose related knowledge, not all of which is on the website you know

LBH, a useful resource, not really a smartarse 8)

Well. If people like to play big ships then that's not too unreasonable. And all ISA players with 2 victory(from fleet box for example) are probably itching for occasional big game as well not to mention vorlons/shadows.

If you do use big ships the ship count doesn't really increase all that much.

Then again. Maybe it's just goofed up packaging decision

Mongoose probably did not look at the new fleet boxes in isolation.

Anyone who has EA ships probably won't want a lot of duplicates, so they put more of the newer ships in the Crusade era box (granted 2 marathons and one nemesis might have been better, but then you get less value for money).

Similarly you already get novas in the original fleet box and early years box. Anyone buying those and the 3rd age box will probably not want more novas.

I saw that too, as far as I can tell, the three boxes are designed to complement each other - aside from fighters there are no duplicates in them. This means only one box each gets Hyperions, Novas, Omegas, etc.

No, I h ave a mod hat, not a MoD hat.

What the heck is a ban hamster?

And Wulf, scooter indeed! I have a full motorcycle licence, and the last thing I rode was a Honda CB500 8)
