DTRPG POD

Anyone bought anything off DrivethruRPG in print format?

I'm wondering what the quality is like.

Take a look at the blog of Louis Porter from LPJ Designs - he has considerable experience in the printing industry and has posted some video blogs where he discusses recent print samples from DriveThru and Lightning Source:

Yeah, you really have to dig to find the pod blogs. I found the one for Lightning Source (relatively distinctive for search) but didn't have patience to wade through the search results to find the DriveThruRPG one.

Can anyone provide a direct link?

As someone who works in the printing industry (I'm art director for a printing company) and someone who has received three PoD books from Lightning Source (SWN, before the Mongoose Version; Other Dust; and Shadow, Sword & Spell (softcover, the other two were hardcover)); I can say that I was very pleased with the quality. The one's I received were well made, as good as anything I've ever gone into a store and purchased, and by dint of being one state away from where they were printed (I'm in north georgia, they were mailed from middle tennessee), I received all three in less than a week of being ordered. Had them shipped Media Mail, and they arrived undamaged and well packaged, which is more than I can say for a few products I've received straight from game publishers.

I bought the Thousand Suns Hardcover B&W from DTRPG.
The look is good and it feels solid. It helps that the inside art is quite simple and doesn't "challenge" the printer too much. I haven't had it too long however so I don't know how well it would survive long-term use.
Overall I'm satisfied and I would order again.

So (forgive my ignorance I'm completely new to this subject and I'm trying to figure out how it all works) how does an individual order a book from Lightning Source? Their website appears aimed at Publishers only.

Is it via the publishers website or one of their on-line distributors such as Amazon or whatever?

If you look at DTRPG/RPGNOW (same company) they have an FAQ that says they use Lightning Source for their POD.
