Droyne Traveller “caste”

What does it mean when you roll a “caste” result on a skill table.

Apologies if this is answered somewhere obvious.

Caste (caste name) is a skill only awarded to members of that caste. See pg 188. Caste skill works like one of the speciality skills mentioned in the Core Rulebook.

Basically, it's the skill that indicates that you know your caste's roles, responsibilities, duties, lore, and purpose. A Drone with a high Caste (Drone) skill will know a lot about being a Drone.

Since Droyne careers are caste specific why wasn’t the caste skill specify the caste. I am left with the impression a warrior Droyne can choose Caste (leader) skill.

Kinda like how the Language 0 skill means you know a few phrases in multiple other languages, I assume Caste 0 means you know the very basics about the other Castes. However, it’s not your job to specialize in knowledge about other castes, so you can only deepen your skill in your own caste. Just my opinion tho.

The caste specific is in the skill table. The Caste (caste name) text description is generic since the description is applicable to all caste-related skills.

Up to the referee to ensure that the skill is assigned according to the caste rules.
