Drow Wars Questions, Answers, etc

Mongoose
Hi Just thought I would start a general link for my Drow War Campaign.

I have asked a few questions and got some very useful and constructive answers so thanks for the response so far.

All is going well thus far, had an interesting solution to the Hag problem in the Grove last night. Players used the old 'Hobbit on a string ploy' e.g. he was used as bait. After a fairly hard fight, the groups Druid finally finished the evil cow of by summoning a hippogriff which in turned grappled her and then dropped he from a 100ft, which did the job.

Just off to find the tump in Saragost and do the last village.

Question for the big attack how many Drow plots did you have running and did the players get involved in any of them. Did the Storm Stone, Phoenix or Midnight Enclave come into play?

Also who is Yarnak guy, my players are trying to find out info on him?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Again,

Finally finished the Colombe mansion, which was fairly amusing (the map is a bit dodgy), the players even fell for the Lamias trick which nearly saw the death of a player, the same player who also unfortunately got turned to stone. They had the sense to negotiate with the wizard and it all ended peaceably. Thus far both myself and the players are really enjoying it, got 2 more events back in town (corruption of node and bomb) and then it will be the big battle, this should get the players on 6 lvl. They have moaned a bit about lack of items, but I have resisted temptation and they can wait for their signature items. I have picked up the Magic Items Compendium, which has got some great stuff, especially for none fighter types, I may well let the thief’s signature item be the Black Cat Rod (I think it’s called).

Looking forward to getting them to Crescent city as I think it will be a good change of pace and motivation.

Cheers,

Back again.

Saragost has fallen, to be fair it was of no fault of the players, they won over all the villages, stopped the Bomb Plot and had nearly enough evidence to force Crastic’s arrest and had him under such scrutiny he was unable to interfere with the battle.

Unfortunately the rolls for the battle were cruel, I thought the battle would be over in a few roles, but the advantage went to and fro between attacker and defender, with the Drow finally forcing a rout. Some epics encounters happened during the battle with a multitude of foes falling to the players blades and magic, one of the players fell mid-combat and all of them rallied to the fallen players rescue even the thief!!!.

All in all very enjoyable, the players have just escaped the fallen city, which ended with the Paladin jumping his horse onto the boat as it went through the closing gate. The city is burning and drow may have won the battle, but they have not won the war.

Stumbled upon this thread, so I hope you don't mind...

My group is well into book 3. We started the campaign in March 06. It has been great fun. I'm not sure if your up on the story behind the 3rd book, but the PCs are about to leave for the RING OF CARNIFEX.

Nice one, you are well in front of me.

Not aware of the plots in the other books, I have just ordered the 2nd.

They have just arrived in crescent city so hopefully they will hurry along to the Temple, but you know what players are like!!!

I expected my group to go straight to the Temple but when they got to Crescent City they got the tingle from the item hidden in the Thieves' Maze so decided to track that one down first.

I've long since come to expect the unexpected from my players!
