[Dredd] Sector 83, the Surrounding Area, and Your Home

Dear all,

Can you peeps help me out with info about MC-1? I'm an expat Brit who now lives just east of Philadelphia (in New Jersey's Camden County). For a while, I've been thinking of Dredd adventures in the Undercity --specifically, the ruins of the town I live in now.

And, lo! Today, I saw this splendid article on the Undercity.

(That was weird -- Bit of a misfire, as I was convinced that I'd cancelled that post midway through and was going to post later. Apologies! :o )

Well, the article I was referring to is over here and it's chock full of great details.

So far, based on the map on this page, it looks like Philydilly's Sector 83 covers the region east of the Delaware as well as old Philadelphia.

  • Does that look about right? Or am I taking crazy pills?
  • Are there any Dredd experts out there who know which progs I should be looking at for stories set in Sector 83?

My next question is more general. My idea was to explore how weird it would be to see places I knew covered by the Undercity's Concrete Sky. Now, I'm used to thinking of places where I've lived as settings for historical, cyberpunk, superhero, and other rpgs. But there was something decidedly different about the idea of my adoptive hometown in / under MC-1.

  • Has anyone else run Dredd adventures (whether using MTraveller, d20, or the old GW rules) using an updated/ distorted version of places they know with any success?

Although Iso-Blocks are usually numbered after the sector they occupy (as Iso-Block 83 located in Sector 83) this is not always the case as per the following instances:

Iso-Block Zero - Location Sector 66 (although Iso-Block 66 is also found here)
Iso Block 789 - Location Sector 49
Wentworth Miller Iso-Block - Location Sector 28
Iso Block 911 - Location Sector 13
Iso Block 999 - Location Sector 13
Iso-Block 26 - Location Sector 9
Iso-Block 99 - Location Sector 1

Very cool.

Hmmmm ... Looks like the my bullseye has moved to Sector 75/ 74 (74, if that the location of the Delaware is accurate). And I probably live on the edge of Sector 8.

And now I just need to toddle off and check that my sector wasn't one of the ones turned into a glowing hole, during one of the many wars in the strip.

Sector 8 is a bit more interesting with the following places having been documented in the strip:

The Apocalypse Monument; Balihai Boulevard; Capone’s; Chakra Puja Block; The Hinterland; Iso-Block 8; J Wagner Shopplex; Lee Majors Block; The Low-Life (cont); Mrs Broon’s Confectionarie; Saint Jude Law’s Hospital; Sector House 8.

Sector 74:
Iso-Block 74; Phil Spector Block; Sector 74 Smokatorium.

Sector 75:
Casey Jones Block; Easdale Sked; Hill Street; Hoyt Axton Block; Radback Italian Eaterie; Rene Enriquez Block; Sector House 75; West 75 Intercit Terminal.

Great map, thanks for sharing!

It does make Sector 13 smaller than my interpretation from the main rule book, with no apparent ocean access. But it also makes more sense this way, the way I pictured it was way too big, covering 4+ regular sectors...

Hi folks,

Not sure how posting to a thread this old is regarded, but I just wanted to say hi from a fellow Briton also living in the US - I'm just north of DC, so I think that puts me in Sector 92 on the map.
