Double Spiral War???

Just ran across something called "Double Spiral War Trilogy" on RPGNow.com. It seems they made a source book for the stories using Mongoose Traveller. You can get both the stories and the source book on RPGNow. com. I was curious if anyone knew anything about them. Has anyone read the stories? Are they any good?

I read the books when they first came out and I enjoyed them. Dunno about the game though.

The text inside mentions that aliens are not human. So that is always a plus for me. I have never heard of the series though. If it was POD, I'd probably get it just for more Traveller career inspiration. I don't buy PDFs.

Most of the war is fighting between humans, for essentially the same stupid reasons we fight today - politics. The sides were willing to ruin entire worlds (the planet Rekynop gets it's polar ice caps vaporized to flood the world) because, well, because they were occupied by the enemy.

One tech that wouldn't quite translate are the "hunks", which snuck up on other ships and then popped out into realspace to unload on them. Essentially they were space u-boats firing torpedoes. Eventually a counter was designed for them and their effectiveness, like real u-boats, dropped off. A danger still, but not much.

Interesting, so it sounds like I will download the novels and read them. If I like them I will pick up the Traveller Sourcebook.
