Being totally inspired by far-trader and especially middenface, I thought I would try my hand at the 3D thing. I now know that I truly suck at it, but I'll show you what I did anyway :lol:

Well just look at what you started with By some accounts the ugliest starship ever. It's tough to make it look like something it isn't

That said, it's not bad at all. Looking forward to more

That's the beauty of 'SketchUp'... you start with a general shape idea (like you have), and add/subtract/refine until one arrives at a more "finished" shape.

Keep at it, you will get better pretty fast—and it's fun.

Probably the worst-looking ship from the LBB Fighting Ships. Even the asteroid monitor wasn't that bad! :roll:

Still, if the Millennium Falcon can zoom around in atmosphere without that big old satellite dish ripping off, the Donosev has nothing to worry about.

Its one ugly ship, so ugly only its mother could love it... Love it.
Good start feel free to pick ones brains for tips..

Might be ugly but its one of the easier ships to do (I think)
I learnt by doing the Luki German gav tank from T:2300.. now thats an awkward design.

For one that has tried Sketchup just a tad, you have a good start. Just making that basic model I'm sure taught you quite a few things. Looking forward to what you do to it next.

Coming along nicely! It's all about adding little visual clues and details

What are you working from? Just curious. Looks very very close to the old miniature, which I just recently scored a copy of.
