does Traveller 2E not include aliens?

Does Traveller 2E not include stats for players to play aliens? If not, are there any books with aliens for PCs to run?

The core book has the Vargr and the the Aslan. It then invites you to invent your own or look to various setting companion books for 3rd Imperium.

Hopefully the Companion book will feature more of the iconic aliens. There was a section in 1e at the end of chargen for alien races so I'm hoping this means they left it out of the 2e core book for its own in another book.

Historically except for the major races most minor races were a 1 to 4 page blarp in issues of the TAS or other magazines or Adventures. Of the major race the main ones have been Aslan, Vargr also both the Zhodani, and the Darrian have had race write up's in the pass. Those the Darrian one was more of a Adventure than a real race book. There have also been books for the other 2 major human races as well as the last 3 major alien races but both the Hivers and the K'kree are far away from the spinward marches which has been most editions focus. The Droyne really are not a major race anymore. Of all the race books I though that the Maga-Traveller ones to be the best done.

The Pirates of Drinax product, due to be released either tomorrow or early next week apparently, is said to contain an Aslan sourcebook, which I assume will have 2e versions of character generation. So that's one race brought up to the current edition. I'm sure more are in the offing as time goes on.

Drinax does indeed have fully updated Aslan - character creation, equipment, and vehicles/ships.

Interesting Point: While the Core Rulebook was being created, we had every intention of putting the Bwap in. In the end we did not, because Bwap characters are... sub-optimal, to say the least, and we figured no one in their right mind would ever try one! However, for those of you who are not in their right minds, you can be sure we will revisit the Bwap in the future!

Gekkos..In..Spaaaaace!

The problem with being in one's right mind is that it can be awfully claustrophobic in there. I find the vistas of Traveller to be much more preferable.

Any idea when we might see those aliens not presented in 1st edition?

Hivers, K'kree, Droyne/Chirpers

Droyne actually pop up in the Great Rift, though as antagonists rather than a playable race. And, thinking about it, a Hiver pops up in Pirates of Drinax, though as a character.

We will be getting into the detailing of these races, but each will be done 'properly' rather than rushed - so I am hoping you will think it worth the wait once they are in your hands. For the very near future, we will be hanging around the Marches/Reach area of space, but we may visit the Solomani Rim later next year, and we very much want to do the K'kree sooner rather than later :)

Love to see aliens book for Traveller. Also like to see them done as less of the 'rubber suit' of the week type and seen only as a stat variant. The main thing about your alien is that it's, well alien. I'd like to see some in depth on them and ways to play them that make them stand out as 'not us'. Some one from another culture is enough to spin a lot of peoples heads, let alone a thing that can't even relate to a statement like 'turn left' because it has 3 different lefts and one of them is blue.

Maybe that's just the anthropologist in me

I would love to see alien books done along the lines of the two Megatraveller alien books detailing not only character creation but also their society. That includes the major human branches the Vialii are different from other humans and I like how that was pointed out in the Megatraviller books.

I would also love to see a book for minor races which are really different from humans and not necessarily suitable as player characters.. The Llellewyloly is a good example of a truly alien being, the info at http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/Llellewyloly doesn’t give much info (besides a good image) but the Secret of the Ancients Campaign fleshes it out more with a good example in Exceedingly Discreet.

Hilarious! :D

Don't get overly excited, it is a bit part - though your players may regret annoying them...
Yeah, I really don't think I'd want to annoy a Droyne.

You don't even have to leave the human world to find languages with no "left" or "right".
