Does anybody remember this.... Slaine Map.

Mongoose
The old Slaine Map from the Martech's Reflex driven text and graphic adventure.

It's based on the area referred to as Lyonesse ( Part of Atlantis). Lyonesse, which is shown as the south western landmass between the Bristish Isles and France on most of the well known Slaine Maps. Though it's clearly the sunken area on all modern maps in that part of the world. Now referred to as the English Channel, I think.

I think the mountainous areas ( Shown in the north and the south.) must or should be the oppsing coastlines, by the looks.

Not really sure it's canon with the material siupplied for the RPG.

At the moment I'm not sure if this has been covered in any of the Mongoose books on Slaine or even the comics.

Though I will be finding out.

Take not of the village in the north called Tautega. It's obiviuosly fictious, being in a place that has been under water for along time.

After reffering back to my copy of 'Tir-Nan-Ogg'.

I realised the alarge part of the Lyonesse are was used in the 'Sky Chariots' story where Slaine and Co end uo after the Cloud Curragh he was working on crashed and in for many of the adventures that followed that one. The volcano Mor-Alltach played a significant role here, though on the Martech gaming map it is neither seen nor marked out. Unless it's part of the 'High God Mountains' in the north. In fact non of those other places are referred to.

Except there are a set of standing stones there called Cromm-Lin and there is a place just called the Dolman on the Mongoose provided maps. Not sure if they are the same place. Though it's very easy to assume they are as they seem to be in just about the same spot. There is also a place called Crumlyn north of that area, and just north of Dinas Mynydd. The name sounds similer and there is a estuary running through this area making it almost identical to the one on the Martech map. Now what if Dinas Mynydd are the 'Forever Peaks' and Dinas Emyres are part of the 'High God Mountains'. That seems to almost fit, except that this area appaers to be just North of Lyonesse, stilll on the land mass, right on the south western coast line.

It's apity there is nothing much written about Crumlyn in the Mongoose book. Nothing in the index, I may find something insignificant if I read the whole book.

Though it's most likley that the locations provided in the Martech game were made up specifically for just that game and it may turn out that it clashs with alot of the latter day Slaine stuff in the comics now and in the Mongoose game. Though I quite like finding this type of material even if it's none essential to the main story. Sought like the Slaine Dice-Man series. Alot of people write them off, though one of those stroies clearly show how Slaine obtained the Cauldron of Plenty.

Still some of you here may find the map useful and even the story behind this old computer game ( http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/slaine.htm )
may be found to be a good inspiration for another adventure within this alternative part of the Land of the Young.

Since the subject of Slaine maps has been brought up.
I was disappointed by the poor quality and lack of details on the map in Tir nan Og. Is there a better map with more features out there somewhere that is regarded as "accurate" or "authentic"? Was there ever an issue of the comics that featured any maps?

You won't find a map that is geographically identicle with what you might find in any modern maps.

Anyway, I can only remember the small map of the area near Snowdonia in the 'Dragonheist' story. It depicted the Lair of the Matar ( The old Dragon.) and the Dragonfarm where Nest lived. You won't find it unless, you have one of the original 2000AD issues as I never seen it featured as in a graphic novel. Well not lately.

There's also the map included with the saga of the 'Horned God'.

It's not much different from the one in the D20 books, except it's in colour.

BTW I don't have problem with any of the Mongoose made maps.

It's understable that they may not be compatible with the map from the Martech game nade along time ago and perhaps forgotten.

thier is also the map of the dark gods tomb that have used many time in my dming found in the tomb of terror series also remember a map of the glamor lands but not sure were will have to relook it up

You mean the map from the 'Tomb of Terror'?

The Glamour lands map has me stumped. I might look through my own stuff, when I get more time on my hands.

I have yet to find the ' 'Tomb of Terror ' map. I think I know which one you are referring to though.

As for the 'Glamour Land' map. It is the one and the same map featured in 'Dragonheist'. Same one I mentioned in the earlier posting. If you haven't got this prog, then turn to page 53 of the 'Tir-Nan-Og' book. They have copy of the map there.

The Glamour land, also referred to as the Realm of Illusion.

It has the Worm's Head farm on the left hand side. The Gower, which is the Moorland, featuring the Pit, in the north, the Fogou in the south, the Gower road running east/west through the centre of the map. The Black mountains in the north. Crumlyn village is near the centre if the map right on the Gower road, east of the Moorland, south of the Black mountains, north of the Crooked lake connected to a estuary running below the Gower road in a east/west direction and the Coed Arian Silver Forest.

thats the map with tomb of terror also being a play slaine yourself adventure as well as a comic  in the end issue their is a full map of the complex

know their are other maps so will look for them as sure their are more :?
