Dirty Tactics.

What's the cheapest, Dirtiest tactic (I.E. Jump Point Bombs), yet is Legal, you've ever used or seen used?

Keep rolling peace summits to buy time and build my large fleet. (Now on priiorty level equal to strongest player).
Was all smoke and mirrors, made sure to get all opposing players to try and eliminate me while allowing time for my ally (vorlon) to get RR neded to build his ships. Nothing like hearing all the players curse your name for being able to get the Most likely races to never be int he same room, in the same room and discuss peace, and making a profit out of it.

The best cheating method I have seen so far was at a tourney last weekend, when the Drakh player turned up with models but no ship sheets. He then proceeded to play with a scrap of paper on which he wrote the damage and any problems the ship might have after being it, e.g. -1 to speed.

All I can say is, I have never seen a crippled ship move that fast or fire that many guns!!!!

You know who you are, and if you come to the next tourney without ship sheets, I will refuse to play against you!!!

Am I bitter - You bet I am, he beat me!

No ship sheets you say?

Digger, i think i may be ready for that rematch now

(And before anybody says anything, NO, I wasn't that player)

Your opponent turning out to be a substantially better player than you.
It's the most hideously unfair advantage I can think of.

I'm ashamed to say I know who that player was :(

The trouble is whenever we play, I note down all the damage and tell him what he can and can't do so he doesn't even think about it when he plays! Suffice to say he hates the bookkeeping side of things. It's no excuse though for missing out stuff like that.

All I can say is P.P.P.P.P.P

Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance

As for the mini-beams Burger, that was a genuine rules error and you went along with it - Sheesh!! :x

Get over it and have a cookie, or at least a chocolate, I gave a large tin to Tank for you guys to share for Xmas - I assume he's going to pass them round.

Rule no. 1 Know Thine Enemy
Rule no. 2 Know Thyself

Minibeams is pretty much a Minbari only special rule so you've no-one but yourself to blame for that one Burger if you didnt point out the error :P

Yeah thanks for that Digger :)

But I feel Burger, and I are just going to see a tin, full of empty wrappers with a Guilty looking, chocolate smeared Tank saying "What?, What!?"

Isn't it specified that the player must have sheets with him/her?
Record keeping is massively important to the game so not liking that part isn't really an excuse.

I've heard from Tank and I think Adam that I tend to quote what I'm doing... like "Beams ignore interceptors", quote the stats of a weapon etc...which they find off putting and confusing ...in a light hearted way

Its not a dirty trick its just I get stupid sometimes and need to make sure I'm doing things right!

Like JPing in assassination...doh!

"Ok Tank put back those two Saggs and Olympuses..they were only pretending to be dead"

Sheer "dirty tactics" made for a short recon run game. The set up was for a battle level run. I took a Vaarl scout and two Xixx with no back up, took a reading on two of his battle level ships and then fled the map. The entire scenario took one and a half turns since he was close enough to an edge with an asteroid field that I could just pop on and take a reading (2/3 successes which was enough). VP 10:8

@ TGT - But in the rules pack for the Tourney, it says you must have ship sheets, so as far as I am concerned, the guy broke the rules.

Anyway, the tourney had been on the forum for weeks, its not that hard to get the sheets ready, and you can always use LBH's webpage to download them from.

Not having sheets only opens yourself up to the accusation of cheating, its not worth it in the long run.

Kind Regards

Digger.

Actually the most awful tactic I've ever seen was the guy in Q-Con who would roll one dice at a time. If he had to roll 10... he would count out 10 dice, pick them all up in his hand, then let them out one at once. Once or twice this would be OK, but he did it for every single roll. After an hour it was just so frustrating and time-wasting. I didn't play him but even watching him drove me up the wall. He just made you want to scream "THROW THEM ALL AT ONCE IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO THE OUTCOME!!!"

Actually there is no mention of a need for ship sheets, only a fleet list (which admittedly he also didn't have but could produce at the drop of a hat). So long as he has a piece of paper and a pen to record damage nothing is illegal...at least until he starts forgetting the damage effects! I played this way over the weekend but didn't make any mistakes (I think) as I am used to doing things this way. What can I say? It's a pain in the ass to have to track your opponent's fleet as well as your own!
