Definition of "Narn bat squad"

Forgive my ignorance. I've played for about one year, but I've only been on this forum for less than a week. Could someone please define "Narn bat squad". It sounds like what happened to Lord Refa. Although "Narn stomping squad", or "Angry narn with stones squad" might be more accurate in that case. But back to topic, as there is not a very big ACTA community down here (I'm working on that) I've not heard that term before.

Cheers

Thank for that, I would have always wondered. It sounds like someone I know who takes nothing but warbirds. That makes for an entertaining game trying to chase all those hull six little buggers all over the table. At least there beams are not as mean as a ka toc/ka tan.

Well theres no actual article for that and I have a feeling the powers that be of Wikipedia might just delete it if I added an aticle soley about a tactic in a wargame, a small footnote for a larger article is another matter.

I AM tempted to write a an entry for Call to Arms as a whole but not today as I dont actually have the time if anyone else can be bothered though go ahead :)

what would the typical list be?

is there a minimum amount required? say eight K'Tann in a five point raid?

(i don't have that many btw!!)

I think taking 4 out of 5 FAPs at 1 or more PL below the game's, makes any fleet a Bat Squad.

just wont work for alot of fleets though, has to be hard hitting s well to be Bat Squad. 10 torothas just wouldnt bring the same sort of worry to an opponent as the 10- ka'tan/tocs

The usual Bat Squad I run into at 5 Raid is 1 G'Quan and 6 Ka'Tans.

the amount of beam dice even with Boresight is just obscene and I have yet to defeat that type of fleet.

why the g'quan? thats 4 skirmish ships gone right there, and also lack init sinks for boresighting
Bat Squad i use is 6 ka'tans, 2 g'kariths (for fighter clearance), 1 scout and 2 torpedo cutters.

the one I have faced had 6 ka'tans, 2 scouts, 2 thentus.

Ever tried it?
If I saw an opponent with 10 Torotha I'd be worried, I'd think he had a sneaky plan or something!

only if his sneaky plan is to win a box of SST at a mongoose tourney :)
i think even 10 vorchans would give 10 torothas a good run for their money.

Well thats not the Bat Squad way. They perform at their best when it is 10 Skirmish ships versus a few large ships. Would 10 Torotha give a Pimus, a Prefect, a Sulust and 2x Maximus a run for their money? ;)

They MIGHT if the Centauri had really awful luck with the dice rolls ;)

That said I've used 3 Tigaras and 4 Torothas at 5 point raid and blown the living crap out of a Dilgar fleet with them before....

A 10 Vorchat might have a chance, it take some pretty good playin, Vorchans would get there butt handed to them as 10 Frazi's are just waiting to .. you know. Tried a Secundas, 4 Vorchan,1 Sulust vs G'quan, 4 Katoc & 2 Sho Kar ( not quite a bat squad ), Vorchans did get take out a Katoc but i was down to 3 by then, sweeping through the flanks getting caught in side arcs & Sho Kars who went to intercept, went to 2 buy the time got G'quan did fire first, but it's side arc destroyed 2 as they badly damaged but claim a Sho Kar on the way through. The Sulust took out as many Ka tocs as it could while the Secundas blasted everything in range. The Game ended up with Frazi's coming in the same arc as G'quan while both ships trying to make come abouts. It was real tacking duel with Secundas winning by crits & fwd arc + interceptors vs boresight. The Secundas is great against fleets without interceptors.
