I have to say my wargaming in general is quite quiet at the moment. My next little project is a handfull of napoleonic ships, but after that I might get on with the Matapan project.

Your stuff looks really good if you need help with anything let know I have alot of info, I beging to think Im alone with game here. Thats why Im looking for obscure stuff. :D

I don't have an electronic camera but a few of us are about to start playing AOD here in Adelaide. Ships bought, based, undercoated in stylish black and a handful even painted :)

I hope it's not dead.

I just started playing it (after a demo last year)

Not a lot of pics yet, but here are my first ships :

Far from dead, our mail order department says.

Little known fact: The fastest growing area for Victory at Sea is France. We've had a fair ton of orders from across the Channel over the past few months.

Can anyone tell us why? :)

Nice models!

The top ship looks near enough identical to the second one apart from the paint job. If so, you would be better to call it the Admiral Scheer. The Lützow had different superstructure and an aircraft mounted foward of the funnel; the Scheer had the same superstructure as the Graf Spee and the aircraft aft of the funnel.

Achilles was a New Zealander, therefore HMNZS Achilles, but only after the Royal New Zealand Navy became an entity in its own right in 1941; before that it was the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, and the ship was HMS Achilles. Its most famous action was probably the Battle of the River Plate, which it repeated when it played itself in the film.

I don't think so. While I don't know of anyone who plays it here in Baltimore MD, I personally plan to run a game either at Historicon or Fall-In. I'm collecting War at Sea minis too and I have a decent sized collection now for fighting around Guadalcanal, hunting the Bismark, and going against the Graf Spee (which incidentally gives me some British ships for actions during the Dutch Indies actions too! Gotta like that).

I like VaS's easy to learn system. It puts naval gaming into reach for guys like me who have only a passing interest in the subject. I just want a quick, fun game... I don't care whether or not turrent X is stuck in some odd postion!

Anyway, a game is only dead if people don't play it.

Great pics!

Historical games tend not to generate a lot of frenzy but can be steady stuff. I mean to get into this as soon as Real Life permits, as VaS looks like a very good combination of easy of play & presentation. Also a lot easier to get ahold of than obscure b&w pamphlets which is the typical historical miniatures game approach.

I'm more into WWI and before for naval stuff but I do like WW2's combined arms approach and watching/listening* to The Pacific has rekindled some interest in WW2 naval. Fortunately VaS can do all of that, not just WW2!

* rather like the audiobook and it includes a navy pilot character not in the tv miniseries

Yeah I see we have generated renewed interest in the VAS forums it was to quiet around here for awhile.

now for some new pics of custom built ships for VAS.

Sorry for got to say in my last post you guys have some nice minis painted there. As mentioned above I also use War at sea Minis which is probably obvious. Also allows for building custom ships. Cant wait to see more stuff. If your in Jacksonville Florida look me up for a game or go to Dragon Con this year, I always run VAS games.

Is there any chance of getting stats for the Italian Pontoon boat pictured bove with the 15" gun mounted on it. Yes it did exist. But I dont know where to start for stats.
