Dates slipping again !!!!

I'm glad the dates are pushed back...gives me more time to save money.

Don't forget this is still kinda of a new game. I would rather them release these at a slow pace then flooding the game with tons of stuff. This also makes it easy for new people to start. I happen to be collecting all 4 factions so the pace works great. But I can see if you were building a force from one faction how you would want more, more, more.

yeah but to get interest in a new game you need the minis etc. PP do new games, and release things slowly - ie every month, but they stick to their release dates and you do get new stuff every single month.

Guys,

A great deal of time is taken up in development of projects, and while we do our very best to hit projected target release dates these are not absolutely set in stone.

Currently a lot of effort is also being expended on SST Evo and time is a finite thing, so when we are working on one thing something else is put on the back burner. Ideal? No. Real? afraid so.

I can only ask you to be patient. We are as keen to see new models released as you guys are.

but will SST:evo then go through the same drought of new releases? perhaps too many things are being attempted at once if so much time is going into SST:evo when another system isnt even properly released yet.

Many people wouldn't consider 16 different box sets a drought by any stretch of the imagination. This of course is diluted by the fact that we decided to give as much variety as possible by providing four different starting factions, but this again is the nature of getting the balance as close to right as is possible.

to use my example of PP earlier 16 boxsets is quite a severe drought in the time its been out. hordes was released with 4 factions and in 2 months had 21 releases with releases every month apart from the ones when warmachine got a new book. sorry but the release schedule for BF:evo is really quite poor. and even when they are supposed to be released the stuff all goes out late.
I know its not mongooses fault on deliverys etc but you would think having say 3 waves of stuff ready for release before the game is released might be an idea. people lose interest when they dont see new stuff.
16 boxes in 4 factions is 4 boxes per faction, 4 units? thats nothing for a game that is trying to compete versus others games in the same sort market etc and for the time its been out (or should have been out).
another thing that PP do nicely is have every unit in the rulebook so that you can at least proxy units until they come out for real. I am sure if all the units for a years releases were put in the adv rulebook then people wouldnt feel so bad as they can proxy their minis or even get them from other suppliers.

So i want to get you all at Mongoose to be clear as crystal on this, without any sort of doublespeak - the reason we aren't necessarily getting our models is because you are getting stuff ready for SST:evo. So in that case, why even release BF:evo?

You think thats bad? All support for SST v1 was pulled for two years while they got stuff ready for Evo :D

I'd have to dig out old issues of NQ to check the exact release schedule, but Hordes ran into some major supply problems shortly after release and the schedule got shot to hell.

Clam down. . . I will wait and see. I would like an overview, not fixed, but a solid idea, what is about to be relased for BFE in the next, say, year. That would give the gamers a perspective.

If I would sell a game I would not be too happy when players take proxies for my models and play with them. I am fond of the game how it is and the concept of the game.

Besides. . . I am very eager to see the SSTE stuff. . .

Wow so that means we will get our heli's for BFE right about the same time as we get our TAC fighters for SST........ nice.

IF they had made the figures compatable to either other 28mm lines or gone with 1/72 scale, then maybe more models would have been sold. Mainly because they would work with other lines than many players already have. Miniature gamers are known to mix thier models. MP screwed the pooch in my opinion when they went with the odds scale and figure sizes.

I ask MP why the delay and here is their reply:

The delay on the next set of releases is due to a problem at the factory manufacturing the items. Until we are 100% happy with the product it will not be released. Our customers have come to expect rapid releases from us but we are committed to releasing product only when we are completely happy with it, which is why there is an unfortunate delay.

I know this will be disappointing to some people, but we must make sure that everything is produced correctly rather than being rushed out.

So there you have it. I imagine that maybe the Helocopters are giving MP fits.

that was due to a change in factory and the fact Warmachine and hordes were outselling their own wet dreams, so they did a 3 week pause to produce stuff to catch up with demand and back orders from stores, but as soon as they caught up it was all back in gear without evan a days delay.

Mini companies can learn so much from how PP are doing stuff.

IIRC the delay was more than 3 weeks. They had to backstop the production schedule and fell back from releasing 2 new units a month per faction to 1.

But it was down to demand outstripping supply, yeah.

but it was still releasing stuff every month, even if 1 unit a month. and the 1st 2 months still did release 21 releases. this far outstrips 16 releases about 5-6 months since release of BFevo.
plus like i said with hordes or warmachine you have the rules for every unit to be released over the following year so can proxy them too.

But Privateer's delays were after the initial releases, were producing in-house and so had much more direct control over the problems. They also weren't dealing with pre-paints.

I'm not saying that they didn't handle the situation well, or even better than Mongoose are handling the BF:Evo delays, but to present Privateer as a perfect example of a produciton schedule when they have had delays (and I remember the Apotheosis minis being delayed as well) isn't accurate.

my fear is the delay is to have clear windows on the copters, wich il have to paint black anyway to match in style with the shadows and technicals on the games table, these are games minis not toys, we dont need clear windows and crew inside, save £5-£10 and leave them out.

well isnt AT-43 prepaints? they dont seem to be having problems either. just that this doesnt seem the way to go about releasing a new game, hardly any minis, and only rules coming with the minis. doesnt get people interested as much as if there were monthly releases and you knew when stuff were coming out.

True, but there's any number of factors Mongoose may have faced and Rackham hasn't. It's a bad situation for them to be in, and especially annoying as this is the second slip in the Wave 4 release schedule, but hopefully we'll have better minis in the months to come, and hopefully the release schedule will stabilise sooner rather than later.

Any word on SST: Evo's release date yet?
