Damage Control Rolls

Do Damage Control rolls automatically succeed on a 6 like CQ checks?

I know you add the CQ score to a roll and squadroned ships can still pick the highest CQ in the squadron to add but is it classed as a CQ roll or not ?

Nor does squadroning help for the same reason.

Squadroning can help, it clearly states that the ships in the squadron use the best CQ of all the ships in the squadron for all purposes.

Seems I've been playing it wrong for years

My eyes see "add the CQ to" and my brain goes CQ CQ CQ CQ !

Don't know whether I need new eyes or a new brain

Only something that is sta\ted as a CQ check is actually a CQ check.

Things that se CQ (In 1E rules) that are not actually CQ checks include:

1) Damage Control Checks
2) Dogfighting

This list is not necesssarily exhaustive, my brain is currently addled.

Dogfighting must be a CQ roll, why else do Vree fighters get the +1, when the rules clearly state that Vree get a +1 to CQ checks? ;)

Well I don't know about the Vree, but here's what Rulebook 1 says about resolving dogfights:

both players roll one dice and add the Dogfight score and the Crew Quality
of their flight.

While CQ is used it's not explicitly a CQ check.

Just checked the section at the fornt of Armagedon on Aux craft, it states there that the Vree get the bonus to their aux craft CQ, so that's why.

Rol on 2E, less books to dig out.

Lets face it, the Vree getting the bonus to dogfighting is contradictory with the rules as written. Dogfighting is not a CQ check, Vree get a bonus to CQ checks, therefore Vree shouldn't get a bonus to dogfighting. But thats the ruling made in the errata, so thats what we play.
