Damage and Criticals

Hi all
Id like to clear up Damage and Criticals
For example I score 4 hits now I’m rolling for damage. I have 2-4-5-6
I understand that this is -3 (without critical) and I hit Weapons on (5) Weapons Offline (D+2 C+2) so total damage inflicted on ship is D -3 and -2= -5 C -3 and -2 =- 5 or D-6 C-6 (add -1 for critical as for hit too)?
If I have Double Damage I multiply total or I should multiply damage without critical adding critical to multiplied damage?
 
Example: A single-damage system has 4 hits that are applied. The firing player then rolls 2-4-5-6, scoring three solid hits and one critical hit. So far, the target ship has taken 4 damage and 4 crew lost. The critical follows as a 4-5 (One arc offline.) This deals an additional 2 damage and 2 crew, for a net of 6 damage, 6 crew (I write this as 6:6).

This time, 3 dice of double damage weaponry strikes the same ship. The three dice come up as 1-2-6. This scores 5 damage and 4 crew (1:0, 2:2, 2:2 from each die) . Look at the definition for double damage and bulkhead hits to understand why -- triple damage weapons work this way, too. The critical is then rolled as a 4-5 (again!). As this is a double damage system, an additional 4 damage and crew are applied, not 2 damage and 2 crew. This weapon has then done a total of (9:8), and between the two weapon systems the damage is 15 damage and 14 crew, (15:14). Ow!

Okay you score 4 hits on a ship and make the four damage rolls:

1st hit rolls a 2. Solid hit for 1 damage and 1 crew
2nd hit rolls a 4. Solid hit for 1 damage and 1 crew
3rd hit rolls a 5. Solid hit for 1 damage and 1 crew
4th hit rolls a 6. Critical hit on top of the solid hit for 1 damage and 1 crew

The Critical hits 4 (weapons) 5 (weapons off-line) for a further 2 damage and 2 crew (and no firing out of a random arc).

The four hits have done a total of (1+1+1+1+2) 6 Damage and (1+1+1+1+2) 6 Crew.

If the wepon was double damage, all the damage and crew losses would be doubled. The four hits would therefore reduce Damage by (2+2+2+2+4) 12 and Crew by (2+2+2+2+4) 12.

on damage in general,

if a target has adaptive armour, does that effect critical hits?

i.e. If I get a 6-6 critical and score 12 on the damage dice does that get halved to 6?

Yes, it halves damage and crew loss caused by criticals, but does not reduce the effects of other things like speed reductions
