Last night, while heading to sleep, had an idea. How about special Squadron SAs that can only be done by squadrons? like a Time on target, where they focus all firepower on an enemy, maybe gaining extra AD for each added?


or a few others. can;t think of what woudl be appropriate and balanced, like a target that weakness area, or focus all fire on engines SA, but not so sure what else can be done. any thoughts?
 
Do you mean something like this:

Get all ships into escort formation!
CQ: 8+

All ships of the Squadron can share their Anti Fighter and Interceptor Dice with one another. A ship can share up to 1/2 their dice in this manner. Transfered can not be transfered furtther.

Move all ships into attack position!
CQ: 8+

The hole squadron moves and fires as if under the "Concentrate all firepower" special rule.[/b]
 
yeah. something like that. or maybe a shared targeting data. one ship in the squadran needs to ahve scout, or maybe command.


maybe a special CQ 9 or 10 one that duplicates the pakmara's emine ability? something like "Saturate teh target area!"
choose one wepaon system on the ships, shoudl be the same type of wepaon : pulse cannons, or plasma cannons, or the like." take 1/4 the combined ad. coutns as accurate . lose the twinlinked, and any ap or sap. maybe not be beam or mini beam.

Co-ordinate Fire! Crew Quality Check: 8
In the heat of battle a senior officer can sometimes see beyond the individual engagements and understand the big picture. They order the nearby ships to follow their lead and target a vital target in the
enemy fleet.

If a Ship with the Command trait successfully makes the CQ check for this Special Action, they order all ships within 6" to act as a Squadron for the purposes of firing. The ship executing the order and All friendly
ships within 6" of the command ship must fire at the designated target fighter, ship or station and may not fire at any other target this turn. If the Ship loses the Command trait, or is skeleton crewed or destroyed,
the effects of this Special Order are immediately lost.
 
I'd probably also have a range limit on how far the dice can be shared (Probably 8", just like the Escort trait). I say this because one of my main squadron formations is a spread out line, and it seems wrong that one ship should be able to share its dice to another one 24" away.
 
Form on Me! CQ check 8+
If the CQ check is successful the ship may choose 1 other ship within 6". The ships become a squadron from this point on. You may choose an additional ship for each point you pass the test by.

Suppressive Fire. CQ 8
By careful coordination of a squadrons firepower the location of stealthed ships can easily be determined
Choose a target. All ships in the squadron may only target that ship. All ships gain +1 to beat stealth in addition to all other modifiers.

why not just temporarily give all ships the escort trait, with the restrictions that it applies to only half the dice and only to other ships in the squadron

I did start writing that, but then I realised that it wouldn't apply to interceptors. I suppose you could have it only apply to AF and drop the half dice limit in return though.
