Working on finishing the art for the project I plan to publish. I thought I'd share....

The concept is a one man 5 ton combat pod for use by Marine Pilots to defend their transports, and offer ground support for Assault Forces. They can also be used for starport security, commercial escort and as a small combat craft for mercenary forces.

They come either Laser armed, or armed with missile racks, and all of them mount vehicle mount Fusion guns as an anti-personnel/anti-vehicle weapon for extra firepower.

They can be fitted with standard fusion reactors or batteries for short duration use. have crystliron armor maxed for size and tech level, and standard issue pods have a 6Gee Thrust rating since they are intended to operate close to a carrier vessel, or in support of ground troops neither role requires high acceleration.

to fit into the hull the reactor is an old fusion Model ( TL8) with reduced size applied 3 times.

It will "go away" if hit by a solid shot from anything heavier than a beam laser, but it can handle a good deal of fire from ground forces, and vehicles. It hasn't got much in the way of sensors, or computer support. In large numbers, they could be a pain in the neck.

It started out at ten tons, but i realized I could shoehorn the basic components into a 5 ton hull. it has no airlock, so the pilot would have to wear EVA rated armor, or EVA if they didn't have an enclosed berth.

Hull points: 2
Armor: 12
Power: 10
Fuel: 1 ton ( 4 weeks)
Thrust: 6
Sensors: Basic
Weapons:
single fixed Pulse Laser, or Single missile rack no reloads.
Secondary Weapons: 2 fixed Infantry Fusion Guns.other options available at buyer request.

Approximate cost after 10% standard design reduction.
Laser Armed verson: 4.887 Mcr (not including secondary weapons.)

For ground combat wouldn't you want a more aerodynamic frame? Combat maneuvering in an atmosphere would be a lot more efficient that way. There's no need to generate lift with antigrav, but you still have to deal with wind resistance.

I am working up aerodynamic versions to go with this one.

they will look something like this.... this particular model is a 10 ton racing pod so it will get a slight rebuild to make it a bit more militarized...and adjusting the cockpit to scale with the smaller frame.

The price is right. You risk making grav tanks obsolete.
I'd imagine these would be more useful for rapid deployment forces, or around starports, rather than being deployed by garrisons and ground forces.

That 5 ton version is sweet, very evocative form for sci-fi gun-bunnies. If you dropped the ship-scale weaponry and went all personal (VRF Gauss Gun, RAM Launchers, etc) you might have the TL10-12 A-10 Warthog. Love it!

That's an idea I'll tinker with :D

The A-10/Su-25 role is sort of what I envision for these pods, plus some limited ship to ship combat utility.

The ship scale weapons are the most efficient anti-tank weapons for fighters. The light weapons are more anti-infantry or anti-materiel.

True, using a starship grade laser on Infantry and Battle dress is a it like using sledge hammer to crack a walnut.
