Conan comic

Perhaps they are ramping up interest for a new movie.

I've heard rumors the wrestler "The Rock" was/is being considered.

I read there was a script and plans to have Arnold play King Conan and The Rock play his son. The movie was supposed to focus on the son, though, so maybe Arnie can still do it if his part is limited.

As for the sudden increase in Conan products... that's what happens when new management gets a license like Conan. It had stagnated so long, so naturally Paradox wanted to make some of their money back after they acquired it. :)

There are lots of talks about continuing some movie-series. I have seen talk about a Mad Max 4 done by Miller, and also a 4th Dead movie done by Romero (not like the Dawn of the Dead remake thats coming soon, hope it doesn't stink as much as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake).

I hope there is a new Conan-movie, it would be fun if its done right. But there are probably many obstacles to pass before it becomes reality, so it wont arrive soon. 2005-6 maybe?

I'd love to see a completely new film, unrelated to the first two. Start over and retell the Conan story as REH wrote it. Conan was not a slave/gladiator for the first 20-some years of his life. Let's see them start with a Conan at about 18 and make a series of movies truly chronicling his life. You're all going to hate me, but I think that with proper couching, Ashton Kutcher (sp?) could play a great young Conan. His eyes can be rather intense when he's not being an idiot. Give him long black hair and buff him up and you might have something.

what has caused this new interest in conan. I own the old 12 paperbacks by de Camp et al. Now all of a sudden the comming of conan and the RPG and the comic are being published. Is this coincidence or is this a planed market stratagy to make conan as popular as it was in the 1970's.

Well Wandering Star started it off by gaining the rights to re-publish the pure Howard stories the end of the 90's . That garnered a lot of interest from the Howard fans . There was the short-lived rise and fall of Cross Plains Comics but really Paradox have taken up the ball and ran with it , they've seen the potential of Conan that seemed to have been forgotten by the Howard estate and now there's the new books , games , comics etc.

Whether the boom will be as big as in the past is difficult to say but it seems more care and thought is being taken with the property this time.

I just got the last copy of issue #1 of CONAN: THE LEGEND in my area and it is sweet! DH is doing a fantastic job with the property. First class all the way, with a nice multi-part REH bio and comic in the back. Cool ad for REH Conan/Solomon Kane books on the back cover; didn't know there was a Kane book out until I saw the ad! Limited ads on the inside (4 pages worth). This is the first comic book I have bought (not counting DH Conan issue #0) since 1999 (back issues) and the first NEW comic I have collected since the late 80s.

Yay! I got it too, here in Sweden. I found a specialized comic book store that had issue #1 in store. I also signed up for a subscription, and they would get the #0 for me to.

Had a slight shopping spree, as I also got the three Chronicles of Conan from Dark Horse. Also bought the two volumes featuring Howards stories in a chronological good printing, The Conan Chronicles in the Millenium Masterworks series
