Computer TLs

The computer table on p.91 lists Computer/1 on both TL8 and TL9, and Computer/2 on both TL10 and TL11, however these computers cost more as they advance in TL - a TL9 Computer/1 has exactly the same performance and weight as a TL8 Computer/1 but costs Cr250 instead of Cr100, and a TL11 Computer/2 has exactly the same performance and weight as a TL10 Computer/2 but costs Cr500 instead of Cr350. Now, I could understand why a TL9 computer would cost more than a TL8 one (at TL9 it has effectively unlimited battery lifetime!), but the TL11 Computer/2 has exactly the same performance as a TL10 one, but costs more. Shouldn't it be the opposite (i.e. the same computer costing less at TL11)?

The Higher TL Comp2 can be retro'd down to half price and that makes it cheaper - so its likely more of a base figure. If thats the only reason then the TL9 Comp1 may be a miscalculation as the 50% would still make it more expensive.

Also other Traveller sets had some TL dependant items and modifications (as opposed to Comp power of the machine) - miniaturisation and other bits. Those required the higher TL machine but the same Comp power. That would leave a historical price difference that won't be explained until we get a more detailed computers supplement.

Or it could be a typo :)

One thing I will say is that TL9 Comp/1 may cost 250 but you can halve the cost and weight by retroing it.

So effectively by using the TL9 as a base, you can get a TL8 retro at half weight for 125Cr, paying 25Cr for the weight reduction.
