Collision optional rules?????

While reading my newly arrtived VAS Rulebook, I've got a question - is there any optional rules for collision between ships?

None as yet. We did think about them, but they were pretty low on the list of priorities. Collisions between ships in action were actually pretty rare (and even when using other rules for naval games that DID include collision rules - standfast coastal forces sets - I can probably think of only a handful of occasions in hundreds of games where we've ever needed them.

No reason not to develop your own though :)

Does anyone (who saw other rules) can tell me what like thouse collision rules are about? :)
I know collision was RARE, but I want these optional rules just to prevent ships to move throught each other :)
Maybe it should be like this: the higher your speed, than higher damege to you and your ship. Damage is not VERY big, but it cause your ship to completely stop... Something like this, but I steel need info about collision in other games :) I hope someone will help!

I have some ideas based on an Age of Sail game, but it gets a bit tricky if a lighter ship rams a larger one. There are some historical moments of friendlys getting together, and even DDs can do some damage to BCs if the situation is right. Obviously if a BC or BB can catch a DD, it should be multiple damage dice based on the difference in class, followed by critical hits on the hull and crew table. Also, the lighter ship will turn to conform with the direction of travel of the larger ship. Afraid I dont have any experience with other WW1/WW2 era games, and can't recall from the modern rules.

I like VAS rules very much. Only thing thats oputs me off its that there is no rule to prevent ships to move throught each other :)

We discussed this earlier. Don't forget that the scale of the models is much greater than the ground scale (or "sea scale"), so, although a model ship might take up 1"-2" on the table it would only be a few millimetres long if the model and table scales were the same.

Still, if thats the only thing that puts you off then thats not bad :)
