Cold War Research Assistance needed

Mongoose
A friend of mine has been presuring me to write up rules for Cold War era naval combat so I have finally started.

I am adding equiptment and ships from between 1980 and 1990.

Currently I have the following Countries

NATO forces (with rules for combined fleets)
Canada
France
West Germany
Italy
Spain
USA
UK

Other forces
Argentina
Australia
Japan

Communist forces
USSR
China

What I need is some information on Chinese forces to do them justice (and not have them underpowered) as well as accurate and reliable information on the other nations ships, aircraft and weapons (missiles and torpedos). I am attempting to aquire a few books to assist me, but so far its no go.

Here is some of the features of my suppliment

Over the Horrizon attack rules (Horrizon for ships is 16")
Missiles and Torpedoes are now launched weapons represented by counters with movement. Fighters are represented by single planes instead of full flights. These two are done this way because of there importance.

Another thing I need is a way to represent Destroyers on the Priority system without overpowering carriers (making them completely rediculous... for instance a carrier with 300+ damage). I will have to use the Armagedon Priority level.

So far I have the following organized.

Patrol - Patrol craft, Jet fighters, ASW aircraft
Skirmish - Frigates, small & old Deisel/Electric Subs, Attack aircraft
Raid - Destroyers, Large Deisel/Electric subs, Small Nuc Attack Subs, Old Carriers, Heavy Bombers
Battle - Cruisers (old and new), Small carriers, Large Attack Subs
War - Large/Battle crusiers, Large Carriers, SSBNs
Armagedon - Iowa class BB, Nuclear Super Carriers, Nuclear Deployment (for eligible nations)

Nuclear Deployment allows you to use any nuclear weapons your ships may posses without waiting for your opponent to deploy nuclear weapons.

Any advice concearning any of the nations available would be appreciated. Pointing me to any material that may be of assistance (I've been looking for Janes fighting ships for any year 1980-1990) would be appreciated.

I really REALLY need material on missiles and torpedoes though.
