The Borderland is a useful sourcebook providing the Referee with a semi-isolated ‘sandbox’ within which to set a campaign. Not too big to get lost in, and far enough away from other systems to keep a new campaign on track!

For Clans of the Aslan, explore the inner workings of a clan, learn about the secret warrior schools, and see what life inside the Aslan Hierate is really like – insights rarely granted to outsiders. Clans of the Aslan provides tips and ideas on running a campaign set amongst the Aslan, along with new options for creating and playing Aslan Travellers. Furthermore, Clans of the Aslan provides rules for creating and running your own clans, as well as descriptions of important Aslan clans and worlds drawn from across Charted Space.

Most excellent. Any word on when Aslan Hierate will be given a scheduled publication date? I’m looking forward to rolling it in with Clans.

My only request would be to stop with the Imperial-centric thought in all of your Charted Space products. Even in your above post about Clans of the Aslan.

Why is everything in Traveller from the Imperial viewpoint? Why do you not learn about the Aslan from an Aslan viewpoint? Or about the Zhodani from the Zhodani? Or about the Hivers from the....ummm.... maybe this idea stops working when it gets to the Hivers... :P

This post comes approved by Edward Said.

Personally, though, I’m not an Aslan or a Zhodani so I’m content to get a view rarely granted to outsiders.

Understandable. I am not an Aslan or a Zhodani either. :(

My problem is are we supposed to play Zhodani and Aslan or are we supposed to play what Imperials think Aslan and Zhodani are?

I suspect we're supposed to understand that the view rarely granted to outsiders... is the insiders' view. I.e. that of the races themselves.

Outsiders get the outsiders' view all the time.

How are we supposed to understand that when even the mechanics of the game are humanocentric/Imperialcentric? Even the UWPs are not really the numbers, they are just the numbers/letters that the IISS says they are. So, by Traveller tradition, even the Aslan books and Zhodani books are all written from the Imperial perspective.

This has been a mistake in Traveller from the very early period. The publishers wanted to tell every story from the Imperial point of view because all of the players were supposed to be playing imperials, mainly human imperials. Dumbest decision ever. All it has done is guarantee that none of the material that has been published can be trusted. Which takes me back to saying that we don't have an objective setting in Traveller. We have Volo's Guides to Charted Space and that is it. Everything printed about Charted Space is merely the opinion of whoever the publishers are saying is the in-universe writer of whatever material that you are reading.

That is like learning about the world from a patient in a mental institution, who has never been outside or had any contact with the outside world, writing the definitive history of the world.

Well, one would suppose that one needs data delivered in a form that is easily digestible.

Before being thrown into the Deep and the Dark end.

Frankly, that is the biggest piece of bullshit I've read today, at least so far...

Do I really need to point out that Charted Space is not real, so there can't be any objective truth about it? If you happen to agree with what is written in the books, then it is obviously the truth for your campaigns. If you have different ideas, you declare whatever you dislike was written by an unreliable narrator or a piece of Imperial propaganda.

So, I should just change the rules in the WBH? The game mechanics are the objective truth. Not the stories being told in the game world.

Do I really need to point out that "rules" are different than "setting" or "story"?

If you can't understand that distinction, perhaps games with rules are not for you.

So, I should disregard everything written in the rulebooks, because none of it is objective?

So, take your "biggest piece of bullshit" post and shove it up your ass. Get the fuck out of My post! Blocked!
