Cheap vehicles?

How do these look? I found them at Target for $1 each. I figure with some paint they'll work fine. The Land Rover is a "Defender". The infantry next to them is Caesar Modern US (Desert Kit) in 1/72.

I was at the Family Dollar store on Monday and they had the usual plastic army men packages, but had one tank in each pack that was about scale with 1/72 from what I could tell at a glance.

matchbox or hotwheels do a better one than that for the desert iris.. its low slung with a spare wheel in the rear.

as for the defender.. its what ive used with the roof cut of one.. more hard work than its worth.. possably a little big for 1/72 but perfect for mongoose BFE figs.

matchbox do a proper defender in short wheel base as used by the army, but again its not perfect as its not military issue version..

il post bits as i find them, so far ive seen them in shops so finding on internet is possable but hard work without names..

but il put idead here for the desert iris..

I've seen that sand speeder on e-bay, but not in stores. I'd much prefer that one.

I found the dune devil in the Toys R Us here. The packaging is different, and it's labeled as a "classic" model. It's green here, I got 3 of them.
