Charging as a reaction

I realise that at the moment there are only two reactions that you can possibly make to someone within 10" of you: move or shoot.

Will there be more reactions available in the Advanced Rulebook? I was thinking that surely a good reaction for vehicles could be to gun the throttle and roll over the target (ie charge). Especially if say a Technical was dumb enough to end a move within 7" of a Chally or 8" of at Type 99 or Abrams.

At the moment I wouldn't think that a move reaction from a vehicle would count as a charge (considering they are listed as two different actions). I just thought that that might add some more tactical fluidity to the game if smaller vehicles knew (and infantry) knew that if they got too close, a vehicle could react by charging them

Although the battlefield may end up looking like a destruction derby rather than an actual battle.

Any thoughts?

That's probably true but lets face it, the chances of you actually being able to use 4D10 in close combat are relatively non-existant. I know I haven't done it yet (especially considering most vehicles react by moving away from that big ol' mean incoming tank (and they should rightly do so).

Oh well, sounds like it may be a good house rule...

most armoured units cant react by moving.

your find with the rule book your maybe able to use your tanks close combt dice to knock buildings down that infantry are hiding in ;)

Yeah...it was just that unfortuneately most vehicles would react by moving away from the approaching tank.

Running through buildings would be cool though.

One other thing that may be interesting is if rules are introduced about turret movement ie if the gun can't swing in a tight area (such as an alleyway) your target arc is reduced to where your gun is pointed.

But those rules will seriously complicate a woderfully simple and well thoughtout game.

We take that as read, if the turrent is unable to traverse to the firing point then it can't use that fire point for turret mounted guns, if a turret mounted machine gun can be turned to face that way then it can fire obviously. Just remember that there is nothing to stop a turret traversing 270deg anti-clockwise because it can't do it 90 clockwise *GRRR*

That's true. But this tactic would mean that getting behind a tank in a tight alleyway would really annoy it...especially if you had say a shadow...bye bye tank

It would also mean that Tanks would have a truly difficult time in tight areas including dense cities and forests.

That's it. Fedayeen jumping in behind a tank and swarming it from behind...that'd get rid of a lot of the fully operational battle station/tank mentality that I've noticed (and been affected by). Tanks aren't the be all and end all, especially in a tight city where someone with a LAW could be hinding in anyplace or someone with a Bradley can pop off a TOW over the horizon...
