But Gas Giants are supposed to be colorful...

That would be freaky to live near, I think.

A religion that sprang up on one of its moons would not need to invent Hell. It would be clearly visible in the sky above them.

I'll wait until we can directly observe them before making any judgements on color. but if true, it sure looks cool.

Nah, it's just home to the fashionista police, and ultra-black IS the new black dahling :)

That or, you want your gas giant colouful? Well this one is that to the max. Mix every colour together and you get black. Mix the perfect balance of the purest of every colour and you get this ultra-black. Proof positive that there is intelligence out there, and they seem to have an artist working on a truly grand scale :)

...nah, it's probably something even weirder than either of those ;)

Of course they could get there and discover:-

(1) It's artificial;
(2) It's hollow;
(3) It's a billion years old;
(4) The builder's still inside it;
(5) Its first words are "Gerroff my lawn!" Or words to that effect.

I don't think there's a planet there at all - I think they got a speck of dust on the lens! :twisted:

a possible sodium titanium-oxide atmosphere, at 1800F / 980C! Lets just say while its a non-reflective world, one would def need the HEV Vac suits there!

It's an early prototype stealthed gas giant.

It's the later ones, that you don't see, that allow travel across the Great Rift.

Don't believe me? Just ask Grandfather.

P.S Cool photo, really gets us thinking about the variety in the universe!

Along with a stealth Gas Giant we need a diamond world.

A newly discovered alien planet that formed from a dead star is a real diamond in the rough.

The super-high pressure of the planet, which orbits a rapidly pulsing neutron star, has likely caused the carbon within it to crystallize into an actual diamond, a new study suggests.

The composition of the planet, which is about five times the size of Earth, is not its only outstanding feature.

The planet's parent star is a special kind of flashing star known as a millisecond pulsar, a rapidly rotating neutron star formed from a supernova. The entire system, which is only the second of its kind ever discovered, is located about 4,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Serpens (The Snake).
