Breakaway Day Challenge

If looking at the Eagle design, don't forget the Hawk - the dedicated fighter equivalent....

Anyway....if it's about 30m long, then the photos (given some highly suspect measuring and proportions) suggest it's got a beam of about 8m and a height (not including 'feet') of about 5m. Which looks about right.

Got contradictory data here. The MkIX Hawk is apparently 18.75m long, 5.95m wide and 2.2m high, which works out to 17 dtons. Maximum quoted speed is either 0.22c with 20g thrust. According to the Starlog blueprints, that is.

So, if these are correct, the Hawk could just about qualify as a 20 dton fighter.

Anyone got any data on the Swift?

If that was the hyperlight version of the eagle family, wasn't it just imaginary ? (unlike everything else, I admit)

The Super Swift was the hyperlight version of the Eagle. It was doubly imaginary as it was an illusion created by the aliens in The Bringers of Wonder. The Swift was the one that appeared in Brian the Brain. Officially it was described as a support ship for an expedition that went missing.

There are some very nice pictures here ...

Thank you for the clarification. I remember the bringers episode, but not the brain one.

Right clicking and hotlinking disabled on their site. I have only ever seen people that paranoid sitting underneath tinfoil hats.

Gaah. Give them their meds, somebody.

So much for my glowing tribute piece about the site on my blog.

The movie Impact dealt with tides and gravity effect

Of course, there are some things that are not quite accurate but the visuals and the concept make for a movie. (note: whether you think it was a good or bad movie depends on how you like your SciFi.)
