Boy, do I hate assembling Sunhawks...

Really, the amount of flash on the aft section is bad enough, but those little gun barrels on the wings just drive me crazy! I´ve spend over an hour on two Sunhawks (I have a total of 6 for my paks) just trying to get the little guns to stick to the ship in roughly the right spot... :?

Well, just blowing off steam. But I do think that the Sunhawk should be amongst the next ships which get their mould replaced; it´s hard to get rid of the flash without taking some of the details with it.

Count yourself lucky. I had a dozen of them plus another eight Strikehawks to put together. I used gel-formula superglue to build those. That stuff will hold small parts like gun barrels in place while they dry and acts as a low-grade filler to boot. I had more trouble basing them and ended up using thin nails as shafts.

I simply moved the guns to the wing and mounted them there instead of trying to get them underneath. It was a much better solution when compared to my rising blood pressure trying to do it the other way. I figure, this way no one can mistake my Drazi ships for someone else's.

I do agree that the flash is nasty, especially when coupled with the mold defects that appear on the bulbs of most Sunhawks. I like Warbirds and Strikehawks so much better.

Fusion bulb defects?...really....never had any those so I am surprised. Especially considering how much flash I've had on the Warbird/Strikebird (come on...its a variant of the bird not a hawk) and what a pain all those small recesses are to carve out I would have thought the other way.

Any chance we can see a picture of what you ment by on the wings rather than underneath? Not quite sure about that placement...I thought he was talking about the barrels that fit into the holes in the wing engines. Course there is that short barrel under the nose as well.

Wish I knew....computer issues is not something I do well. Prelude had a photobucket account he used sometimes I think, but I'm just terrible with trying out the computer stuff. We have three computers in the house now and I believe I've managed to make two unusable this week. Shannon is gonna kill me.

(I could certainly see where the glue on the fingers thing could be an issue. That was a pain...but so used to it I didn't even think about it. Glue peels off, the skin I sliced off while trimming flash out of holes...that's gotta grow back at its own pace.)
