bore sited aft wpns

just out of interest .How many players find and aft arc bore sited wpn useful? (hope p&p give the gquan and bin tak a little love)

I only gotit on my Omegas and Hyperions, as long as they survive long enough and I got 2 ships into a right position. Otherwise it happens more by accident.

It's not a bad thing on any ship that takes several turns to come about.... The hyperion's forward laser is ok for its priority level, but the fact that after flying past the target, a 45' turn the other way will get another turn of 2 AD heavy lasers on it makes it all the better.

For the omega, it's an even nicer touch - Omegas can't maneuvre hard, so the rear laser is very good for discouraging anything from flying or jumping in behind it.

The twin boresight is far from impossible, but simply having the option of fore or aft makes it quite good.

The great advantage of it (wth the EA ships, at least) is using the front BS as you close, punch through the enemy fleet firing off broadsides, then move away using the back BS - most EA can't turn like my Vree can! Plus, you can get the coverted double BS when moving away if the enemy has anything hanging back (eg a carrier, scout or bombardment ship).

My Omegas like having a rear boresight. Get right in between 2 enemies, and boresight em both ;)

I've only managed to pull this off once. With a xeel forward, and a xaar aft. They both went pop. (the beam dice gods smiled) It was one of the two high points of the game. The other being one hyperions absolute refusal to stand down after several attempts by the vree to make it do so. That crew knew what happens to anyone captured by the vree.

We see this very commonly from hyperions. Shorter range on the front laser and all the other nice dice put them in the middle of the brawl frequently, fairly easy to arrange at least once a fight.

A more joyous occasion when using Sharlin.... ;)
You have a boresighted Sharlin? That'll teach you to buy from Trotter's Independent Starship Traders!

LOL, boresighted? No, of course not. Though, I did get a couple of my Sharlin from the used ship lot. Was just noting that folks all too often forget the aft weapons, much to their shagrin.
I was running the "Army of Light" fleet in a Battle of Coriana VI" scenario. The Shadow players kept after us instead of sharing the love with/against the Vorlon players. I had a three ship Sharlin squadron that was doing a splendid job frying one ship after another. The Shadow players agreed to go after the Vorlons if I turned this squadron toward the Vorlon. I did, but continued to blast them with the aft weapons. They cried foul! but I had to remind them that I only promised to turn it toward the Vorlon, not to stop firing at them.

i prefer sharkaans. same beam on the back but with a better one on the front :D
Nah, you lose half your Nials and side mini-beams... vanilla Sharlins for me every time! Though the 36" range is useful.
