Books 8 & 9 - Robots and Cybernetics

Mongoose
Any more info on these upcoming products ? Specifically, is Robots going to treat robots as equipment/vehicles, or as playable characters ? and is Cybernetics going to be restricted to just electro-mechanical enhancements, or is it going to also going to cover bio-tech ?

I have all my fingers and toes crossed for these two books, as they are 'make or break' for me....

Don't see why you can't support these without any official material... or borrow material from other games. Really, just a stats and limits thing and TMB provides enough info to be fairly consistent (in augments, robots and drones, combat and computer sections).

My hope is that they cover that they do cover everything, but then put a page or two on its applicability to the the existing settings that they have put out. Some games have a tendancy to have new rules creeping into their later settings, just because it was in the rules or options of another rule book.

As an example, while I think that transhumanism (designer bodies and such) is cool and might fit in a kitchen sink setting like Strontium Dog, I do not want to see transhumanism introduced into the OTU or Hammer's Slammers.

Cybernetics focuses on mechanical augments, but with variants for biotech too.

It also includes rules for Neuromancer-style net running, so its more than just a book of assorted bionics and more a toolkit for getting that true Cyberpunk feel.

Thanks for the heads up about Cybernetics Loz, this sounds right up my street, with a december release date I think I know what I'll be getting for christmas.

Not too bothered about cyberpunk style net running rules, but the augments and biotech are good, looks like MGT is turning into a well rounded Sci-Fi system.

Yeah, I think net-running has become somewhat passe of late, but I figured what-the-hell... Neuromancer, Burning Chrome and Count Zero are great books, and although net running poses certain issues for a group of players, it can be fun as a one-shot, and there may be people out there who want to do a bit of cyberspace piracy.

You just named three of my all time favourite novels, yeah net running can bog the game down a bi,t but it is very much part of the genre so I can see why you included it.

Yes robots can be playable characters using Book 9: Robot. (I'm playing one now actually...)

Is a Neuromancer kind of like a cyber-zombie? *fingers crossed*
