Book 8?

The last element of Book 8 is being collated this week, and then it is off to print!

Oh, and what about book 29 for the Mega-Deal suscribers? JD mentionned that it will be available to the general public in February, but what about the Mega-Deal buyers? Will we get it earlier?

You will get it earlier (the plan is 6 months earlier), but we are still waiting for some bits and pieces ourselves for this book.

Excellent! At this rate the printer will soon have the entire collection. Of course, it would be nice if the printer sent some of them back...

There certainly are some angry nerds on these forums...

More irate than angry. While I really do appreciate Mongoose reprinting the Lonewolf book, I can honestly say I've been less than impressed by the quality control or the release schedule, the mega deal was sold as a book every 6-8 weeks. I think the last book I received was back in November. Book eight was originally billed as December release, then January and then February. Ok, if it's three months away, fine, but don't keep setting a deadline and then missing it. If you do set a deadline and have to break it, at least make some sort of announcement with a reason for the delay and importantly an apology.

Some of us here paid out a lot of money purely on trust because these books hold some very fond memories from childhood. It would just be nice to feel that Lonewolf is a priority. I just sometimes feel that because Mongoose already have my £300 I'm a lower priority than some of the other books they're reprinting. I understand that problems arise, I understand these aren't just reprints so it's not like I expect Lonewolf to drop off the presses in the same way the Traveller books have, but as I say, it would be nice to have books arrive to some kind of timetable. If that original timetable was a mis-estimation of the time scale involved, then please someone issue a statement saying 6-8weeks is no longer viable, but there will be a book every 12 weeks. What I cannot stress enough is the frustration of deadline creep. It makes me... Irate.

And "nerd"? Please, you're sitting in a forum full of roleplayers. Pot calling kettle.

Hi guys,

All internal 'issues' with the Lone Wolf books were resolved some time ago, hence the close releases of books 8-10. However, there are still some things we have little or no control over, such as artwork done by outside freelancers and, of course, approvals.

We work the best we can with both, but sometimes things just take longer than planned. We have already instituted some new processes that should streamline the above, and which should cut down on the turnaround time.

Cool. That's good to know. Please to hear that the internal issues are resolved. No more missing/random equipment sections then.

I appreciate you're busy people, but just a note to keep us in the loop when "things just take longer than planned" would be really cool, even if it's just a "Oops, snag. Artwork missing/Bonus adventure eaten by dog/Printers mother kidnapped by Martians. Sorry, got to reschedule to a later date." What really bugs me, is not so much the delay, but the creep in the forth coming releases listing with no explanation. From what you've said, hopefully it may not be an issue anymore. Fingers crossed.

Seriously, I really don't want to come across as ungrateful, I really do appreciate you folks at Mongoose picking up the torch with regard to LW and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series almost as much as I did first time around all those years ago.

One of the sweet new internet message board "tactics" is for one nerd to point out another person being a nerd. Much like posting "fail" or "win" everywhere possible.

Yeah righto champ.

Or... maybe I just get sick of all the bitchy crap that goes on here. You don't like Mongoose's books? Fair enough, don't buy them. If you have a problem, and the bloke I called an angry nerd certainly has a legitimate issue to complain about, don't be all snipey about it, just say it. That's what ended up happening and look, he got a response that was more to his liking.

The nerd reference was simply made to show this stuff isn't worth getting worked up over, we aren't curing cancer here. 8)

What about the people that paid for all the books in advance? We already bought them...(Read T.Y.A's post...basically explains where the people your describing are coming from)

Anyways...thanks for the updates msprange!!

Hey hawky,

Like I wrote above, that is certainly a legitimate issue, but not one that would be solved by snipey commenting.

I agree, just some people venting their frustration I guess. :)
