Book 8: Merchant Prince

AndrewW

Emperor Mongoose
Long-awaited by Traveller fans, Merchant Prince is for every character who engages in trading while roaming the stars. Starting off with some extra tips and options for the speculative trading every Traveller player is familiar with, Merchant Prince adds a whole new trading option for those wealthy enough to attempt it, allowing them to build a huge trading empire that spans the stars. With new career options, cargoes and ships, Merchant Prince is an invaluable companion to all Traveller players.

Due March 2010.

Hmmm, expanded careers for the merchant marine, broker, and free trader might be nice. The additional freighter chassies will definitely be worth consideration. A Vatta-style megacorporation might make for a fun end game although I definitely would not make that something the players have at the beginning...
Eh, I'm admittedly biased being that I like merchants.

You understood that my computer is worthless and double posted on me? :P

So the computer posted twice then you added a third for good measure to make sure it was clear?

We know what he meant. :P

See how worthless my computer is? Not only did it triple-post on me, it also tried to hide one of the extras!

And even tried to be helpful and modify it for you.

That was genius. But moving on, I'm personally looking forward to this product. Always had a weakness for trade and the kind of trouble you can get a merchant into while traveling for the best deal. This sounds like it will help.

it's rare for me to be able to come up with jokes that people actually understand, and I've never played Paranoia either!

I like trade as well - I wrote a LBB trade program, then added T5 to it, and restarted from scratch deciding to make it more object oriented, as well as supporting Mongoose trade. Still have to actually read & figure out the Mongoose trade rules (and not sure how much I like the T5 trade rules actually, which is why I did the classic version first, but T5 buying is dead simple). And like all programs, this one has morphed. As I play solo, it is becoming a merchant trading game, including tracking where you've been, what you bought & sold, tracking credits (well, it will - working on the ship object now that handles this stuff). Uses all text files (some XML, and the systems are regular old SEC files):
