Bite Fighters

Banded Mongoose
Hello.

I'm thinking of writing up Bite Fighters for GoMC-1 (perhaps for submission to S&P), and I think there are two ways of doing them. I'd be grateful for your opinions on which appeals more.

Option One

Bite Fighter Specialist: a low- to mid-cost Specialist, several handy Close Combat traits (eg. Close Combat Monster, Martial Arts, Armour Pen, etc) to compensate for their proud 'no weapons but my teeth' stance being woefully impractical in a firefight. Also, they'd have a Loyal Following ability that allowed them to gain rep for one-on-one kills. And they'd give bonuses to gangs with Gambling rackets.

Option Two

Bite Fighter Trait: a single Trait which allows you to convert gang members to bite fighters. It would basically replicate a built-in Close Combat weapon and a potential side income, but wouldn't limit them in normal combats. This sits in with the 2000AD convention of other characters (eg. Wally Squad members, Devlin Waugh) being able to become bite-fighters.

Ultimately, I prefer the first. More fun. If I kept them in the 6000 creds range they'd be a cheapish little close harrassment piece.

If I submit either idea to S&P, I may well couple them with a Pit Fight scenario which allows one-on-one combat between enemies, with the other gang members observing and able to weigh in at the expense of a straight high-rep gaining win.

Maybe.

Any thoughts welcome.
