BFE Unit Questions

Mac V

Mongoose
Just thought of a few questions for Battlefield Evo.

First, how long will units be available. Example, Marine M1A1 comes out in January (hypothetical). Would I be able to buy it in July just the same, or will there be a specified time it will be available?

Second, Let's take the Marine M1A1 again. Will that be the ONLY version of that tank (I'mk assuming an Army version at some date), or will there be later releases with slight variations like markings and such to represent multiple tanks?

Gives me a quick thought. Might be cool to have sticker pages to allow the owner to tinker a bit.

Why would it not be available?

I think transfers though are an excellent idea as are various weapon options (armoured skirt, dozer blade, turret defense weapon etc).

I do not think any of the models are limited, so there should be no problem in getting them unless they become so popular that they are all bought up. Even then, because they are plastic and plastic moulding is so expensive, I would imagine Mongoose just making more.

I too like the idea of decals, and extra items to add to the vehicles. Good stuff, I say!

I'd suggest everyone go grab some of this http://www.beldecal.com/inkjet_decals.cfm
(or the laser version if appropriate)

And a copy of the "Stencil" font.

Unlimited personalized vehicles.

Hi guys,

Core units, such as the M1A2, will be available throughout the life of the game. There may be some more marginal units that will not be reproduced when the first stocks run dry, but we will give warning of that.

As for different markings, we are looking into producing, say, half a dozen 'variants' that will have different registration markings, and so on.

*whine-mode on*

Why aren't the swedes in it? Our tanks is one of the world's most effective IIRC, we have some kick-@$$ rifles and air force.

*whine-mode off*

You say some units won't be made once you run dry or something like that. What types of units are you refeering to?

Other than that I can't wait for more BF: Evo stuff.

While Swedish forces are not scheduled for the first year, there is nothing to say they won't appear at all, especially if there is a large contingent of Swedish players of the game. . .

As for units running dry, no decision has been made on that yet. I can see some very special (or large) models, such as the V-22 Osprey being limited, but that is not currently in the schedule.

Well there goes any chance of seeing swedish troops for BF: Evo
I doubt you'll get alot of swedish players, I know two besides myself on this forum.

On a more serious note I'm really excited about this though, swedish troops or not :)

You're doing V-22s ? I think I might be getting into this game too (big Dale Brown fan)

Any chance of a Megafortress too ? (just kidding :) )

We have outlined plans for the V-22, but haven't started design for it yet, other than sketching out some game stats. We _do_ have hardware such as the Typhoon II, WZ-10, Leopard 2 140mm, and the MQ-1 planned for the first year though. . .

I wouldn't discount the possibility - Scandinavian countries can be very weird for hobby games. Most of the time, sales are fairly marginal. And then you get a game that just seems to grab attention.

This, however, is utterly impossible for anyone outside of Scandinavia to predict :)

Yeah, maybe pre-paint will bring some into it, but I'm unsure if you'll get any good sales over here. If you say minis games everyone goes "Warhammer". One can hope though :)

Thanks for the update Matt. Don't know how handy the Osprey would be for games, but I'll have to have one.

Don't throw up hopes. Finland used to be like that but non-warhammer games are starting to gain popularity(especially warmachine/hordes but also GW specialist games, ragnarok, SST has got few players and pre-painted might attract several more...). So maybe there's hope for sweden as well :D

I think that the chance to play the swedish army would get a fair bit attention, people here aren't so keen on Seals and SAS in wargaming, but a very high percentage of 20+age people has performed military service.(it's obligatory)

me i'll go for the MEA anyday,, at least if they have AK-s

I sI've noticed an increase in other games being played up here aswell, it just to be all warhammer, but now the LGS is starting to stock other games aswell, no SST yet tho, i sometimes think i should start my own store and sell proper good games.

You know, that idea has passed through my mind as well. Up here in Jämtland people hardly know what minis games are.

But yeah, the chance of playing the swedish army could probably attract some players.
