Hi. I´m just beinning in this game, but I´m having such fun already.
Thought of some kind of post where we players can tell each other a brief tale of the battles we fight, like old retired commanders drinking some kind of alien whiskey at a dirty bar in the station.
I begin with a tale about an encounter fought just yesterday. My Narn force against a Shadow fleet trying to seize a trade route as part of a campaign. I took a Var´nic, two T´Rann (with 4 frazis each) and 2 K´toc with the idea of damaging the shadow ship at long range till the frazis could reach the enemy. He played a Shadow Ship and a Scout.
My plans went to ground for the table was full of asteroids (7) and we just fought in a thin line to avoid those stones. My Var´nic was isolated and fought sigle-handed with the warship. Incredible but it won...
The frazis didn´t get because they most had to deal with the shadow fighters, and the shadow player was clever to get away from the ka´tocs trying to destroy the strongest of my ships (the Var´nic) before dealing with the others... but in 5 times shot with its dreaded tube (25 dices total with precise, superap, tripled, beam...) he just hit about 5 times, and even did little more than scraps (not one critical). The Var´nic (just 44 hull) survived and destroyed the ship with some help of the Ka´toc... incredible. The scout ship fled after destroying a Ka´Toc with just one shot, pursued shyly by the slow T´Rann...
So if anyone says a Var´nic cant stand a heavy by itself I say to him: play with my fellow the master of the "1s" and see.
The idea is anybody comment the battles, the forces used, the things he would change... or tell us about his own fights... We can learn and anyway we will enjoy telling our "old man stories"... I think
Man, gimme bit mor´o´this whiskey... and my fellow too.
