Battlefield core rule book

Terrible Tim

Mongoose
I have just bought some BF books on the "sale" page. How do I buy the core rules? I can't find it listed any where.

Also, how long does it take for the average order to be package and sent from Mongoose?

Thanks for your help,
TT.

Hi there,

I am guessing you mean Pacific War and Warbirds - these require the World at War rulebook, which will be going up on the sale page probably next week.

We usually try to turn orders around in 24 hours, but with all the orders coming in from the sale right now, we are running at about 3 days turnaround at the moment.

Thanks Matt. I will keep my eye open for the World at War rulebook.

I also bought the Apocalypse-Z book. Does it use the World at War core rules or is it self contained?

Thanks,
TT.

It is not self contained, you need Modern Combat (or WaW)...

Thanks Agis. Do I only require the Modern or the WaW (just one of them)core rules to use Apocalypse-Z? Because I am only really interested in WW2 and killing zombies :D I probably would never play any modern conflicts.

Thanks.

Hmm, Apocalypse-Z is more modern oriented. It also not fully compatible with Modern Combat or WaW, e.g. a Hummer has different stats and points in Apo or MC.

If you are more into weird WW II try Gear Krieg:

or Gear Krieg Banzai if you like the Pacific Theatre more:
http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?products_id=79829

You will then only need the WaW rules in addition.
If you want a printware copy of Gear Krieg, just drop me a line:

Apocalypse Z is intended to be run with Modern Combat, but the rules crossover well enough into World at War. You might want to adjust point costs if you are using anything beyond the basic zombies and zombie creatures (bats, etc). Then again, Apocalypse Z is a scenario-driven supplement, and not intended to be a "fair fight" for the humans

Thanks guys. I think I get both the Modern and the WaW books, as they look like they may not be in print again (which is a shame).

Matt,

When is the World at War rulebook going on sale?

Hey there,

Unfortunately, it looks like it won't be after all - stocks are already at near zero for it!

Matt, when you say almost zero, is it possible there maybe one copy (for me) for sale. I recieved Apocalype Z and Pacific War (and all the B5 books on sale and the Return to the Road of Kings) yesterday, but I do not have the WaW core rules. Can you please help? (And yes I will beg  )

Paul.

Just Google it - here's a stockist http://www.iguk.co.uk/categories/battlefield-evolution-445.aspx or try ebay

Thanks hithero. I live in Australia, so I will try a local supplier first (I just prefer the Mongoose sale prices :D ).

By the way, how popular was WaW?

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 judging by the number of active online community members. Mainly due to lack of support and Mongoose pulling the plug early on - pity as it is a really good good game with easy mechanics but the rulebook is full of errors, inconsistancies and typo's.

On that note, the best WWII Zombies are available from Rebel Minis. Though, one thing that bugs alot of people is that the Zombies still have their infantry kit on. But that makes sense to me if they were attacked as soldiers by other zombies or if they were reanimated before they could be stripped of their gear. Warning though, this requires going the 15mm route. I've not seen any WWII zombies available in 25 or 28mm.

Oh. Also, for WWII minis I recommend The Assault Group for Japanese infantry and Marines, Artizan Designs for German, British and other American infantry....as for Russians...I'm working on finding a good looking company for them. I'm thinking TAG on them as well though as they have a very nice variety, but Artizan is squad oriented packs. So you can buy a squad from them and it'll be to the near exact design, or precisely exact design. I got a pair of commando squads from them and they were spot on to the TO&E.

Oh, there are a lot!
Westwind and Incursion comes immediately to my mind.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THOSE TWO. X_X; How'd I miss that?

Though, aren't the Incursion ones actually 30mm scale like the Starship Troopers figures? (I read the insides of the books front to back and every little word....apparently that game is 30mm scale. Hmm. Explains why the figures all kinds of odd scales...)
