Battledress & vacc Suit

So what page and text does the book 'make the distinction between vacc suit and battledress operation as being more than moped/motorbike' - don't recall any mopeds mentioned...

Well, you suffer a universal task penalty for wearing Battledress or Vacc suit without the requisite skill levels (p.53 for BD, p.59 for Vacc, general expression of this rule is on p.87). Since each category is a *separate* skill, and Drive (Wheeled) skill covers Motorbikes, Mopeds, ground cars etc, it's clear from the rules as written that the difference between vacc suit operation and battledress operation is greater than that between operating a moped and a motorbike. Bicycles would be covered under Athletics (Endurance) or possibly a new specialty of Athetics (Cycling), so I felt justified on my comparison ;)

As I've said, a task that relates to things the equipment have in common, should allow either skill to be used as a DM, just like you can use either Persuade or Diplomacy in many situations. Operating the suits are seperate skills, as defined in the rules.

I have always used the HOUSE RULE that vacc suit covers vacc suits and combat armor, where the skill battledress covers battledress, vacc suit's and combat armor. With battledress being a combat armor with motor assist, yes putting the armor on may differ from putting on a vacc suit. The skill battledress just supersedes vacc suit in every way. In my games when a character learns vacc suit 0, then learns battledress vacc suit no longer needs to be listed on the character sheet. Any advancement in battledress skill in my games increases vacc suit accordanly. So example Battledress 4 = vacc suit 4, but vacc suit 4 = no battledress skill what so ever. Now please dont flame me lol.

I would allow basic operation of the Battle Dress with Vacc suit skill but not allow vacc suit skill to enable use of BD's weapons or other enhancements
