Battle Star Galactica theme ?

BADGERCLAW

Mongoose
I was in the toy store one day and found titanium miniatures. The one that had caught my eye was Battle Star Galactica.
I looked at the battle stars that I just had to have. Then I thought it would be cool to play with them as well.

So I was thinking of doing a colonial Fleet theme to B5 call to arms.
I have started to work on some of the rules for the ships.

The battle stars, get some ofits stats from the warlock.
and doing the same for the Viper, and raptor.

but trying to keep the same feel from the show.
So what do you all think?

I would like some feedback and opinions from everyone on the forum and please don't hold back. If you have a thought I want to hear it.

someone has made a cool Battlestar mod on the forum here -its very good with lots of cool stuff - even counters IIRC! I think it may be on page 2 or 3 now :)

Here's where you can find them, and some other mods as well.

Yes, I've seen them they look pretty cool but the way he has it arranged you only play against the coylons that's only fun for a couple of games. and then i would want to play a different type of fleet against them.

The way I was looking at it was to create a new fleet to play in the Babylon 5 universe.
Use Niles as vipers just turn them around snipped the nose a little bit and flatten the wings "you just made Niles and to vipers."

As far as the raptors go. I was thinking scout ships, transports something along those lines. and adopting some existing ships for the fleet as well.

I've been steadily working on the fleet now and it's almost complete. In a word document. Can anybody tell me how to attach a document to the forum. So people can download it look at it share their opinion, or even play it.

I've got some resin fighter models (in the right scale) to serve as vipers and Cylon raiders. They look so much like them anyway. I suppose you could use a Posidon as a battlestar and a large Vree saucer as a Cylon base ship. Might be fun for a few games.
Regards,

you can actually get fighters for Battlestar Galactica from Studio Bergstrom for both original & next gen. He sells fighters for both cylons & colonials plus battlestars original & next gen as well as the Pegasus, plus Cylon basestars

What scale?
Regards,

the fighters I have are larger than my fa scale fighters approx 20mm from memory
the battlestars are about 70mm also from memory

For anyone who is interested, I made some stats for a campaign I was playing where I played the Colonials. The Battlestars from the new show are based on those of Court Jester (olny toned down abit, I will not take credit for the idea).

Send me an email if you would like them.

Patrol
Helios class Cutter
Viper Mk II - 2 Flights
Viper Mk VII - 2 Flights
Raptor - 3 Flights

Skirmish
Athena class Defender

Raid
Columbia class Battlestar (70's looking one)

Battle
Acropolis class Battlestar (Galatica from the new show)

War
Mercury class Battlestar (Pegasus from the new show)

I always meant to go back and flush out the fleet alittle bit. Also, I do not have 2e yet so my ships may not be up to par with that edition.

BSG ships galore, he makes them specifically to scale with the Titanium Battlestars so you can play games with them :D (and the fighters are about right for ACTA scale (ie 6 little ones on a base) The page may be a tad out of date though but I think he has an ebay store if you search around there :)

The Studio Bergstrom ones are cheaper though (but the fighters are larger scale (like the old B5Wars ones)

Hey guys,

If you are looking for THE best BSG models around then you need to order from here:

http://www.ravenstarstudios.com/

He does the new series and the old as well as FA scale fighters. He also does a range of non-cannon Battlestars but they all look ace. I bought a few of these and they fit just right with my other miniatures. The only problem is a lack of new series Basestar but I am suyre there is one in the works...

Sorry but looking at the pics at least I dont actually like the Ravenstar ones. Too 'old BSG influenced' for me. Even the 'new ones' look a bit 'old school' if you as me....

The Worldstar is hideous and just doesnt look anything like the actual basestar (WAY too fat).

The bergstrom ones I actually think are the nicest (the pics REALLY dont do them justice) but theyre a bit small unfortunately to use with the Titanium ones).

Nice ship models. I'm from the old BSG school though.

Check out the Ravenstar Blog to see some new stuff, especially the fighters. The blog has much better stuff than what is on the website.

Dang, you beat me by a couple of hours.

Actually, here's what I think they're using for the new basestar: http://www.ravenstarstudios.com/bsg/Cylon_Worldstar_2.jpg

The World Star is not the base star. It is a different ship. A much much bigger ship...

As for the miniatures looking like the old series... The three ships that he sells that are cannon (Galactica, Pegasus and Valkyrie) are all exact to the new series so they cannot really be said to be old in style.

You also have to remember that he does 2 ranges... the re-imagined series and the original series... so there are old-style looking ships on the web page.

And the newer ships may not look like the Galactica but they sure as hell do have design elements in common with the new Pegasus but very few with the original battlestar.

Either way I'm pretty sure me and Locutus9956 had differeing tastes the last time I brought up Ravenstar...
